Industry eecls Competent Workmanship Commercial cmd Industrial Arts VVhat kind of a job are students ready for when high school graduation arrives? In an effort to answer this question to satisfy both student and potential employer, a cooperative training program for seniors has been arranged by both commercial and industrial arts depart- ments. Actual experience in Waukesha firms is provided in clerical and secretarial work, factory and foundry jobs, and retail selling activities. Joint supervision is provided by teachers and employers. Back of this specialized program have been basic courses in bookkeeping, typing, and short- hand. Neatness, speed, and accuracy were traits which had to be developed. In the industrial arts field, classes in woodworking, machine shop, electricity, and drawing each contributed to the growth of needed skills. Precision Work- manship and careful attention to detail were stressed at all times. Need a job? Need another worker? For trained people like these, there'll always be a job waiting! SPEED PLUS ACCURACY are a combina- tion which every typist seeks, but some- times an eraser's a mighty handy thing when midyskr suddenly appears on the page. BUSINESS MACHINES of today are given .Q q a workout in commercial workshop by these agile-fingered office workers of to- morrow. fAnyone for a coffee break?l ,353
