This ad never appeared in print, but that's what Mr. Schroeder and Miss johnson want. Debating is more than just talking. At school and on our own we delve into facts and do research on the questiong this year on the Welfare State . Because the question mirrors current problems, reasoning out our cases is a challenge. The logic of an argument is the key to a debater's success, but we also learn to acquire speaking ability and poise. The out of town trips for practice debates were high spots of the season. Although Waukesha didn't place in the N.F.L. tour- nament, other fields of forensics fared better. In serious and humorous declamations and ex- temporaneous speaking, Wztukeslia students re- ceived A ratings at the tournament, but extem- poraneous reading and oratory didn't make top grades. These contests are held on an elimination basisg district, regional and state.

Some people set their goal at a chicken in every pot. Others set their goal at a car in every garage . But the Future Business Leaders of Amer- ica set their goal at a better business employee in every office. With this purpose in mind, we chose as our officers, Bob Chopp, president, Shirley Frederick- son, vice-president, Ellen Sauer, secretary, and Eliz- abeth Jimenez, treasurer. Under the supervision of Mr. Piepenburg, a program committee co-operating with the officers planned weekly meetings. These meetings consisted of lectures by local businessmen, movies pertaining to business practices, or general discussion. There is no work without play. That old adage was not entirely ignored. For we entered a float in the Homecoming Parade, which won honorable mention, sold programs at the football games, and sponsored a mid-season dance which was called the Queenette . But, above all, our proudest ac- complishment of the F. B. L. A. is our list of 162 members. With Mt. Hastreiter are newly installed FBLA officersg FfCdCf1CkS0H, Sauer, Chopp, Jimenez, Tyler and Herman. V 1-. mn -Q 1 .-P' 'T' ww.. .X f 251
