In the special meets, Waukegan also seem to be an efficient team as they finished third in the Suburban League Meet and eighth in the State Meet. Some of the toughest opposition Waukegan put up was in the four man relay team composed of Fred Pelley, Bruce Bell, Charlie Brown, and Freddy Washington. The fast improving indoor track at West Campus is proving to be a great help in preparing the trackmen for the outdoor season. The indoor track season starts in February and carries through until the spring. As the track facilities become better and better, the future track teams at Waukegan will un- doubtably improve. OUR 880 RELAY TEAM, composed of Fred Pelley, Bruce Bell, Chuck Brown, and Fred Washington, was one of the mainstays in last year's track team. 186

O lt was a rebuilding year tor the i962 Bulldogs. lvlost of the time the starting nine consisted ot seven to nine iuniors. The squad ot i963 will try to improve the 6-ll record and the seventh place finish in the Suburban League ot l963. Three ot Waukegan's league wins were at the expense of the top three teams in the league. One ot these was Morton, a team which Waukegan hadn't beaten for the past tour years. Among the squad were three all-area players, second baseman Frank Chess, outfielder Dan Palmer, and catcher Larry Hagg. Coach Ted Damos has high hopes tor l963, with his returning lettermen and some fine prospects up from the sophomore team. This combination promised to make i963 a very interesting and possibly a title winning year. SLUGGER BOY. Sending out a long drive is Dan Palmer who proved to be a long ball hitter as well as a time pitcher. fllff-t 'i . .. . . . ,pw I 0, 9.4
