MPH.-XSIS on art and music in the school program fills the recognized need for promoting world peace and individual wellfbeing through the international language of beauty. The courses offer opportunif tfes for student self expression. Ideas are translated into objects in the art classes. Sheets of ragged leather become purses. Puddles of clay become figu res. A sheet of brass may become a bowl or a brace' let. Charcoal may mean a portrait, or it may serve as a base on which a silver ring is brazed. A stone picked up on the beach may become the set of a ring-if the hands are patient enough. The vocal and instrumental music classes provide opportunities for perfection of acquired skills, as well as service to the school in providing entertainment in the form of concerts and special programs. Guidance in the appreciation of the classics and daily practice helps the student acquire a more thorough knowledge of music in general, and perfect skills in advanced musicianship. 27
