They devote one hour a day during their study hall. Their primary function is to tend the charging desk and help the other students check out library books. Other duties: Checking in library books; stamping and putting new magazines into their covers; putting out the daily newspaper; checking elementary library books in and out; preparing new books for circulation by stamping them, typing cards, and pocketing and posting them in the books.
