' -3- FQHQ o - enior Cfadd sihfifor FRESHM N: In the fall of 1950, we assembled in room 7 to begin our high school education when Miss Cappabianca, our ad visor, also a stranger to us, counted noses, she found there were L3 of us The next day they gave us room 6 and put the Sophomores in room 7 Many of us were afraid for it was our first time 13 a h1gh school, but after we got acquainted w1th the rest of the students, lt seemed llke old times That year we had the largest attendance in the high school SOPHOMDRES Back to school in the fall of '51 to room 7 We dis covered that many students dropped out during that summer and ln the fall after school started This left a total of 3h students JUNIORS we made it! The year '52 was an eventful one for us We started with 33 students, including one new girl One boy dropped out leaving us w1th an enrollment of 32 Durlng the year we held a dance, skatlng party, candy sale, and a class play entltled, NToo Many Dates All these activities, of course, added to our class 'und which we were buildlng toward our Senior Trlp Also that year we gave the Senlors their Annual Banquet and Prom At the end of our JUn1OP year we looked forward to being nThe Head of the Roostn as Seniors Well, that long awaited year arrlved '53' we're Senlors now Miss Cappabianca wasn't w1th us th1s year, for she had married durlng the summer and had another job to take care of Our new advlsor was Mrs Frieda Seley Al though we missed M1ss Cappablanca, Mrs Seley did a very good job of 8dV1S1Hg NThe Head of the Roost N We made our ho for this year 1n room 9 with a total of 31 stud nts h1 n was quite small compared to our Fresh men Class We discovered that one fellow in our Junior Class would be comlng back soon to finlsh the Senior Class year w1th us That brought us up to a total of 32 Then another boy moved west and our flnal total was 31 Senlors ' ll SENIORS: Dur ng the year we had a caddy sale and a play, HFLHGSFS Creepers,H WhlCh turned out to be a very successful productlo and plan ed to h ve a dance and a bake sale later on Nlth the close of the school year COmlHg soon, we looked forward to our Nashlngton Trlp, and later, oar Drom and Graduatlon These would end our flnal year at Nattsburg Our Class History lS such a tlny llnk to the hlstorles of other years, but we enjoyed ours and hope you have en Joy d it with us. QFUOI' fddfi p 0l0A2Cy I was lylng on the chaise lounge in the patlo, resting my legs, and learnlng some new lyrics to a song when the telephone came forth w1th a merry tingle It was the man ager of the Club Mocana calllng to see what I had planned for my tonight's performance I told the man that I was working on a South Pacific number grass skirt and all H was quite pleased and said he had just signed up a bright new talent that was real f1re on the steel guitar Alex Klick Alex Klick Why I used to go to school w1th him Gee, it'll sure be nice to see him again I arrived at the Club Mocana, the brightest in Louisiana earlier than usual w1th the sole purpose of seelng Alex in my mlnd I knocked on the door that had his name on it, heard someone remark, WEnter,W andchd so There he was same crew cut, bright smlle, and about three inches taller He told me that he had been playing professlonally for three years and loved it when I asked him about the rest of the gang, he said he hadn't seen anyone of them slnce our trip to Washlngton f1ve years ago Then we thought of the super idea of havin a really bang up party This was the first time we coul afford to the Club to spend the SVBHIHR and then go swimming, and then Gosh, who knows' well, the day was here at last' I worked hard on my routine to have it perfect and then went home for a rest Two hours later, I returned to the Club to find that two people were s1tt1ng in the reserved sectlon The nerve of some people' Well, I'll show them But when I got to the table, I changed my m1nd because there were Judy Akam and Bud Moody Judy soon lnformed me that she was now Mrs Moody She also told me that her best girlfriend, Judy TeW1nkle had been teachlng at Edlnboro for quite a whlle CI thought to myself, WGee, everyone seems to have got what they wanted, so ar H Whlle speaklng to Bud and Judy, I saw a few more people coming 1n Then, fists started flying' Oh, dear' Now I recogn1zed the people Hubert Crabb, Bernard Blore, and a very pretty young woman It seems that Hubert had somehow insulted the woman that happened to be wlth Bernard Oh, well' Just l1ke old times I received a cue from the band leader that I would soon go on, so I asked them to excuse me for a few minutes O O 11 . 8 D do anything on a big scale. We could invite them to come to B D C I . , f . when I returned, I saw all the very familiar faces that I knew so very well Everyone was so surprised to see one another that you couldn't even hear the music So, someone finally cut through the mayhem long enough to ask me to act as moderator and ask each what he or she was now doing at la t a solution First of all, I'll ask the men CTb1s is the way to find out who is still single J Here's a handsome one that can't seem to recall Vhen I asked who he was, I found he was Audrey Geer's husband, Raymond Drayer CLucky girl'D NHow about you, Ronnie Kenton I asked NOh, I'm married and work as an artist for life magazine H fue all thought he was a wonderful artist in school D Next n line was Derald Stutzman He and his cousin, Dwavne Qtutzman, had been work by the name of Nancy Then came Chuck Hayes and Bob Johnson both single Chuck was running a farm, and Bob was working in a factory Paul Morvay was managing a farm Then came three boys that used to rule the roost back at the old alma mater in 1953 and 193A First, John Afton came forth with the surprising news that he owned a Junk yard made up of old tractors and Ford trucks CHmm , orig inal anyway Q I believe he said he married another gunkman' daughter And sitting beside him with a diamond tie clasp bright enough to blind a fellow was Courtney Myers He said he flew here from Arizona in his private 'Constellation ' He has a wife, also Seem to recall his saying that he married his cook CMust be mining ore pays off D Jack Loop turned out to be a very successful photographer with a studio of his own Funny thing about Jack he refuses to live in a house He owns a large house trailer He is still single Dave Boarts d1dn't surprise me at all when he told me that he owned a chain of sawmills But, the fact that he wasn't married sure did CGood catch for some female D Seated beside him was Jim Davis He still worked the nD3V1S Plantationn with his brother and dad I asked him how long he was going to stay in town, and he said just long enough to take in a Dog Race and a Turkish Bath. Steve Farnham who worked in a factory in Erie, Pa., was married, and was the father of two girls. Frank Patalon was in his last year of Medical School and would soon be hanging out his shingle. His brother John was employed as a chemist in the General Electric Company. Glenn Brumagin was a captain in the Air Force, and a pilot at that. ' Leonard Galeskl was a stagehand for the television station WICU in Erie, P Jullus Ossa's smiling face was next in l1ne He was owner of the WOld Ford Parts Inc and said buslness had never been better Nice guy, Julie Ross Moody owned a huge and very productive dairy herd He said that Judy kept h1m busy in the kitchen, also Ber nard Blore was the sole proprietor of a beautlful 300-acre farm in North hast, Pa Also, he was the sole proprietor of a pretty wife Gee what a fine group of fellows' But our class had some swell girls, also Judy Akam said that being a homemaker kept her busy Maryann Flfer sald she had been poslng for advert1sements that sold toothpaste She was also sportlng an engagement ring with a dlamond blg enough to choke a cow She told me that WSlowpoken had Just got around to lt CJust Marilyn Sm1th said she had been a secretary in a Public Stenographers' Office for two years now Betty Vogel was a traveling saleswoman and had seen most of the United States Shirley Hay said she would soon have to catch the train back to Erie, Pa , because she just couldn't trust her husband Carl in the kltchen Libby Matvey said she was a hostess at the Palace Ballroom in Wattsburg CMy, Wattsburg must have extended the curfew hour J Judy Tew1nkle was telling some of her experlences as a teacher, her life long ambition Audrey Geer smiled lov ingly at her handsome husband and said she loved her present occupation Dora Howell's blond head peered around a corner She told me she worked in a beauty salon and sang once a week on nOllie Brown's Program CGosh, is that man still Playinsob Evelyn Cross worked as a deslgner at Halle Brothers She speciallzed in Hafter f1V6n clothes We ate dinner, saw the rest of the floor show and de cided to go sw1mming ln the Club's private pool Finally, at 3 OO A V in the morning, we decided to call it qults I stumbled over a couple of our boys on the way out Oh, Nell The Spirits of Friendship Class of l9Sh a.
