If Whenwe started out as Freshmen there were 29 members in 2 our class. We were assigned Room 7 and had Elsa HcQuisten as ' our home room teacher. People started dropping out even in the ' 1, first year. I Te be truthful we were scared of course, that they say, that is natural for all Freshman. host of us only knew the .X kids we had gone to grade school with. Though it wasn't very X long before everyone started being friends with everyone else. Egg It is surprising to think that the people you think you won't A' Q like at all are the ones you end up liking the best. We were very undecided as te what subjectsto take, not knowing what we'd need or even like. It would be rather hard to ' say. if we would take the .same ones, were we doing it over again. About the only thing we did for class activities that year was a class box social. It was a lot of fun. I guess we . had as much fun at that as anything else wehave done since. ff The only Freshman going out for basketball was Gene Combs, fi he proved to be good too. We had two cheer leaders they were Lena . Bayle and Pat Nexon. ' f ' What most of us relember about the year was in:!.tiation . That was something.. AS SOPHMORB... ... ffglt When we went back to school in September we were getting P' so we were more sure ef our selves. We were in Room 2 with the Eighth grade as companions. 1 Hr. Campbell was our hdme room teacher. fe still remember X Lynn Estes and Hr. Canplell's fish stories. ' N' Most ef us followed the sane coimrses, we started out with. There were members ef the class who had left and we also had e' 15 some new ones. Dan Rotthoff and Dan Kuhn being two of the new e ones. We sponsored a skating party in October. Nearly all the ,I Sephmores attended. Se did lots of othhr classes. .sf The Sophmore Home Ec. girls did most of the cooking. We thought if was pretty good, but we took a let of teasing Inn gszieuggethgltginggnsome of us took part in were the - ff? X In all though this has turned out to be a good year. We learned some and forgot a lot more. So it didn't turn h out so bad after all. Tl 2 w AS JUNIORS ..... I. . ' 1 In theofall of L5 we came back ready to make people know that we were Juniors and Whappy gg? luckyno we were X assigned Room 8 with Mrs Comstock as home room teacher and N5 later Miss Heustis who remained with us the rest of the year. S95 Most of the girls took up up shorthand and typing, the boys FS nearly all followed the same subjects as before. V - We sponsored two skating parties and a dance. The xmsic was furnished by the Missouri ox Hunters who seem to be very popular with nearly everyone around here. A The boys who went out for basketball were Gene Combs, SV Roger Bansdell, and Marsden Pye. In girls basketball we were well represented with Lena Bayle, as Captain and highest we individual scoring honors. Also Irene Metenkanich, Pat Noxon, ' and Mary Moody. Our cheer leader was Mary Moody. , Then in the spring there were even more boys going out gl for baseball.'I'hey were Bob Applebee, Roger Ransdell, Gene N Combs , Dan Kuhn, and Marsden Pye. - But the thing we remember with fondest memories were f the day we got our class rings. We really were happy then. If you have seen our rings you don't blame us do ypn--do you? We were very busy getting ready for the Junior and Senior ' Banquet and the Prom. Everyonl seemed to think we did a good job on them both. But it-is with a wonderful feeling that we f leave this year . Remember next year we're Seniors'J ml AS ssmons ............ ' bf. This year we were gold to come back as we were Seniors. ' It took awhile to get used to it --but new not one of us , would trade with you. . I We were told we had Room 9 and Mrs Rankin for our advisor. We were glid because we felt we needed a push and everyone considers Mrs Rankin is a pretty good pusher. We had 1 skating party lsst fall. It was a in of mn. ju, One of the things we are proudest of is the Senior play. J 5 The name of it was The Funny Brats . I saw myself walking down Main Street in Wattsburg and to my amazement I ran into one of my old schoolnate, Lena Bayle. She said she had married David Robinson and had two little girls. I talked with her for a little while and asked her if she would like to have lunch with me. She accepted my invitation, but added she couldn't stay long because she had to get Dave's supper. So we walked up to a restaurant and lo and behold it was Noxon's rest- aurant Pat Noxonva member of our class of 'L7,was the owner. It was a very modern restaurant with all modern furniture, lace table cloths, and all electric equipment. We three enjoyed ourselves recalling old times and after lunch was completed Lena left me. I came to a music store and noticed from the sign displayed that Norman Yost was owner. Naturally I went in and renewed Norman's acquaintance. I learned that he was top band leader of Wattsburg and played for several dances in the largest hall here. After leaving there I was walking down the street and decided I would go to the movie for relaxation. The name of the Theater was 3h81'P'S Could it be Frank's? And as I bought my ticket and entered, one of the ushers of this beautiful theater was Lois Schwab She was dressed in a Blue and Gold satin uniform with cap to match. She was very attentive to me and gave me one of the be t seats in the theater. As I sat there watching the movie who should I see on the screen but Louise Vargo who was main actress in this movie called 'Muscle Heddn. U. . 1 After the movie was over as I came out I met Gladys King. She told me she had married Vic Yost about five years ago and had alittle boy two years old. She also told me they were going -s o to have a big league basketball game that evening between one of 24,5 the High Schools in Wattsburg and one if the neighboring schools A in the citjr of Lowville. The high schools of Wattsburg all were built of brick and the floors were of marble. Each had a very large cafeteria. There were electric stoves and frozen food ,Y boxes and numerous girls working in the kitchen. Each kitchen f to serve about 200 students. The coach of Wattsburgjs team was Roger Ramsdell and the coach of Lowville was Marsden Pye. Later f on Gene Conhs appeared as referee for the biggest game of the fgqsbx season. 'i?. After the game I talked with Gene. He said he had just 552. talked with Ronnie Stevenson, who was a Lieutenant in the Navy.
