THE NURSES' SYMBOL LAMP Though we do seek in kind earmmestness to understand The hidden truth, little do we know of human pain, Of suffering, anxiety, or death. Yet inevitably We must face the challenge of the sick multitude; Our efforts ever toward obedience, our minds Prepared to administer. Loneliness may destroy The sparkle from aged brows; neglect may cheat Rebounding youth. Timely expressions of love and Wisdom extend a guiding hand. Many are those who Seek a relief, a restoration of spirits weak— A bath, a smile, a tablet with love; oh, indeed Must be our symbol lamp, a burning light. Jane Price
