Aboudara, Mr. Sauer. - - S'I'llllEIl'I' Bllllllll The Student Board is the executive branch of our student government. lt is composed of elected student body officers, class presidents, and one representative from each class. The board meets once a week to discuss and govern student activities. lt renders approval for financial aid to school organi- zations and proposes needed changes in the school constitution. The Student Board determines the prices for the Student Body Cards and Manzanita. The handling and appropriating of our schoo1's large finances is a difficult job, but this year the Student Board, as in the past, did a remarkably fine job. These affairs were the result of lonq hours of preparation by the Dance Com- mittee. This committee put in a areat deal of time and effort planning, decorat- ina, cleanina up, and obtaininq bands for the dances, This year's co-chairmen were Mariann Neff and Sharron Antirh. Mrs. Barbara Hedlund was faculty adviser. The hiqhliqht of this year's Iunior Red Cross activities was the annual Red Cross Drive in which S250 from student contributions was collected. This money is used to buy lunches, aym clothes, and school supplies, and pay for dentist and medical care for the less fortunate students in our school. The club members also made a trip to the Fort Ord hospital where they decorated the recreation roazn and individual rooms for the Christmas holidays. Their idea was to boost the morale of the hospitalized soldiers. The club was governed by the Iunior Red Cross Council. Mrs. Diane Severin was club adviser. Q X K dfa C. ily. YC1pperf,S. Vice President Class Adviser One bright September mormng about 400 students awoke to find they were at last Juniors and among the ranks of upperclassmen The class of 59 under the leader ship of Gary Gospodnetlch class president had a very successful year The class banner made 1ts appearance at one of the fxrst rall1es oi the year displaying the colors turquoise and white The Harvest Moon the first annual school dance was sponsored by the Iunior Class. One oi the terrific things about being a iunior is being able to attend the Prom. Early in October the Iunior and Senior Class held the traditional magazine drive to raise money The iuniors came out on top this year Working with the Senior Class the Juniors co-sponsored the Winter Ball which was held in Ianuary The dance was truly a success for everyone who attended. Some of the eager members of the Iunior Class participated in many of the school rallies. Their assistance was greatly approved by all. As this school year comes to a close, these students will find themselves anticipating their senior year. Good luck: we all wish you well. These officers, under the supervision of Mr. Harlan, class adviser, guided the class through a successful year. Now, thoroughly acquainted with all the activities of WUHS, the Sophomore Class has begun to take an active part in many of its functions. In Ianuary, many of the sophomores were seen showing off their new class rings. Later, the class sponsored their annual spring dance which proved to be fun for everyone who attended. But of course they are all patiently awaiting next year when they will become upperclassmen at last. MR. He has very few experienced men on the team but has high hopes for the new men. All the boys have been out there practic- ing hard, and the first man's position has changed many times. At this time Mike Lopes is number one man, and Dale Pyzer is number two. Right behind them are in order of position: Charles Rogers, Paul Bewley, and Roland Hedgpeth. At the time this book goes to press the team has had three practice games. Watsonville has won two with Gilroy 4-O, and 4-U. In the other practice game with Santa Cruz, they lost 5-l.
