not MR, L. L. IONES Superintendent' The Watsonville schools began the year with a new superinten- dent, the first in forty-two years. Under the wise and skillful guidance of Mr. MacQuiddy, a small school had grown into the present large system. To the new problems posed by growth and changing condi- tions, Mr. Iones has brought a fresh and vigorous approach. His knowledge of school problems and his enlightened solutions of them have won for him the respect and liking of the entire community. E. cRooK Principal An old friend needs no introduction, but it is a pleasure to give him welcome to a new position. Under the new organization which for the first time gives the high school a principal separate from the superintendent, Mr. Crook assumed the difficult and often thankless task of guiding the high school on its path. The judicious and thought- ful decisions which he has made coupled with the democratic spirit which is characteristic of him, have more than fulfilled the high ex- pectations we all held. Listed below - in order to acquaint you with the accomplishments of the hoard - are a few of this year's transactions which effect the stu- dents' lives. The board's main decision was its authorization of plans for new shops, a cafeteria, and a music building. The shops might be finished by the second semester of next year. In addition to the proposed new buildings, plans for the use of the YMCA's new swimming pool were discussed. At its completion, the pool will be available to all students.
