JUNIGRS Of the girls, perhaps the junior who best represents ideal youth is Char- lotte Hudson. who has already been mentioned for scholarship and athletics, and who in addition is a notable member of the Manzanita staff and the band. She won the sweepstakes of the solo contest at Sacramento, being unanimously chosen by the judges. She also won the Hute contest: but remains a charming and modest fellow classman. Helen Watters, Charlotte Hudson. Mary Farrington, and Howard Cot- trell represented the juniors in Scholarship Society. Mary was elected secretary of the central division of the California Scholarship Federation for the coming year. , Class officers are: Ray Ciiacoma, president: Mattie Lou Simpson, vice- president: Mary North, secretary: Tom Hudson, treasurer: Clifton Bennett, yell leader: Ed. Downing. boys' athletic manager: and Mary Liles, girls' athletic manager. This most energetic class has shown its ability to do, and has kept its reputation throughout its high school career. -MARY NORTH, Junior. I ' 9 ' 3 - I Page Twenty-five

If not, watch your next chance, else you surely will miss something. The sophomore girls also play speedy games. We are well represented in the all-star teams by Muriel Camp, Ervina Thomas, and Gladys Zobel, for basketball: Kiyoko Tada, for hockey: and Hazel Kerr, Gladys Zobel, Yoshii Takata, and Lucille Cottrell for speedball. Some sophomores also took part in the operetta. Richard Watters had one of the -leading parts and carried off honors as l'Jimmie. Muriel Camp also took part, and other sophomores lent their youthful voices in the chorus. This year we have accomplished much, but we hope to reach an even higher standard in our junior year. --BETH BOWMAN, Sophomore I-9-3'I Page Twenty-seven
