BEN SHELTON - Gay. carefree - loads of fun. PAT TI BRINSFIELD - Life is too short to worry. MIRIAM McFALL, Sponsor W, E. ELLIS, Sponsor CLASS HISTORY When the Senior Class of 1957 met for the first day of school in September. 1945. nine girls and eight boys of the 50 present now, enrolled. The seventeen were Patsy Barnett, Martena Spharler, Mar- garet Greenwood, Helen Woods, Carolyn Evans, Eva Mae Varnell, Bettie Lawson, Pauline Perkins Jones, Charlene Young, Harvey Ashcraft, Roy Rawls, Vernon Rhodes, Thomas Steele, Tommy Hughes, Ronald White, David Pierce, and Glennie Elkins. At the beginning of the third grade, four new faces were seen, they were: Viva Jo Stipp from Gabe Myer School in Pine Bluff. Ronnie Lowe from Memphis, James Lancaster from First Ward School in Pine Bluff, and Kenneth Brown returned to the third grade to try again. He succeeded. The sixth grade was the biggest yet to us. We were about to be in high school. We were greeted with five new pupils that year. Betty Lou Cross from Oklahoma, Bertha Marie Pinkston Cooper from Poughkeepsie. Arkansas. Margaret Neeley and Kenneth Monk both from Lakeside School in Pine Bluff. James Storz returned to the sixth grade also to try again. The seventh grade was a big one. We were in high school with no complaints. One new pupil was added to our class that year, Billy Joe Allbritton from Mena, Arkansas. In September. 1953, our class greeted another new face. From Kingsland, we welcomed Bobbie Wright in the eighth grade. ln September, 1955. our class increased largely upon the arrival of students from Sulphur Springs. They were Nancy Lawrence, Lennie Crossett. Winnie Crossett. J. W. Moss, Maneece Bridges, Voy Goodman, James Bearden, Buddy Baxter, Dorsey Raymick, Susie Hannah, Troy Pierce. and Hollis Wortheng I ack Doss and Howard Mozingo came from Dollarway, Jean Rodger from Pine Bluff , Buryl Attaway from Shreveport, Louisiana, Hallie Cox from Grapevine School, and Patti Brinsfield from Calico Rock. Stella Cummings from Minden, Louisiana, Ben Shelton from Plum Bayou, and Nora Jean Andrews from Houston, Texas, joined our class in the eleventh grade. Our biggest year of all finally came. We were seniors. To our Senior Class we welcomed through the doors of our school Don Lutrell of Rison, Arkansas. We lost one senior that year. Ronnie Lowe moved back to Memphis. Tennessee. The forty-nine members of the Senior Class of 1957 are proud to have been associated with Watson Chapel, its faculty. and students. We know that each member will remember those happy school days and all the fun at parties, dances, and other school activities.
