J uniorfsenior Prom Mrs. Bricker, one of our very capable junior class sponsors, takes time out for enjoyment after di- recting the long prepara- tions for this event. The junior-Senior Prom was held on Friday, April 27, 1956. The theme was K'Under the Seaf' The dinner tables were decorated with couch shells sent from Florida. Light was provided for the banquet by candles set in small sea shells. Each person received a pink and silver napkin, bid, and place card. The center of attraction was this underwater castle. It was painted sea green and sur- rounded by an underwater gar- den of silver and green seaweed and rocks. Varying hues of light shone from the castle. 98

FEBRUARY 1-Watseka plays Cissna Park-We defeated the champions. 8-Watseka meets Paxton on the foreign hard- Wood. 9-We defeated Milford with ease. 11-Dramatic Club Initiation-most embarrass- ing moments. 12-Lincolifs birthday-Yipee! No school. - MARCH 1-Watseka plays host to Bradley. End of 4th six weeks-only 2 left!! 9-Musicians go to District Music Contest. ll-County Institute-another day of freedom! APRIL 12-End of 5th six weeks-just think-only one more to go! 19-22-Easter Vacation. 26-Junior-Senior Prom-a night to remember. 30- 2-Broadcaster sponsors Valentine Dance, Heart Throb Hop. jo Agatone's music- -N.H,S. Initiation-this was an impressive ceremony. -Again we meet Rantou!-this time on home territory. -Pontiac and Watseka battle it out on Pon- tiac's floor. -We challenge Hoopeston on our Hoor. 22-We make a trip to Oakwood-highest score of year. MAY 21-Bookkeeping class takes trip to Chicago. 23-Seniors complete exams-the last day is done. 26-Baccalaureate. 27-Award Night-the seniors are rewarded for their hard work. 29-Commencement-the long-sought day has arrived. Alumni potluck-maybe We've united for the last time-Farewell WCHS.

Senior, Pat Leiding and junior, Randy Floyd take a break from dancing to enjoy some punch. Music for the gala affair was provided by Don Glasser and his orchestra. The featured vocalist was Miss Lois Costello. As one entered the dance floor, he walked through a door of rock formations with delicate net strung over the entrance way. The door was guarded by two trenchants. On the east and west walls were two murals picturing fish, shells, and sunken ships. They were highlighted by blue lights which threw an underwater cast on them. An octopus guarded a nook in the rock formations. The band stand was made up of three pink and white shells as a background and lined on the side by a fence of silver trenchants and pink streamers. Www - V4 p mah- MMM.. I K The ceiling was of aqua with white representing white- caps and loops representing waves. All of these decora- tions lasted until one oiclock. An evening under the sea . . . never to be forgotten. 99
