Biloxi-7, Laurel-10 Laurel captured the first win of the season over the undefeated Biloxi Indians. After a scoreless first half, Todd Oliver returned the second-half kickoff for 45-yards to mid-field. Dennis started the nights scoring with a field goal af- ter the Tornadoes drive was stalled at the Indians 16. After the kickoff, tailback Johnny Brown broke on an end sweep of 67 yards for a TD and Brudgage kicked the successful PAT. Later TD and then Dennis added his PAT kick. The PAT was not a success leaving the score 6-0. Laurel's only TD came when Taylor dropped back and found Cranford in the end zone with a 16-yard TD toss. Brian Dennis came in to attempt PAT. but a low snap from center caused Taylor to pick up the football and race around left end for 2 points. The score 8-6 with 10:40 left in the game. Three Tornado defenders got a shot at the speeding Panther on the run, he got loose and ran a 96-yard TD to end the game. FINAL SCORE: PASCAGOULAfl2. The Tornadoes took the opening kickoff at the 10 yard line. and Jay Porter car- ried it out to the Laurel 38. On the first play from scrim- mage. Rocky Whitten ran the ball up the middle to the Moss Point 47. for the first down. Moss Point took over on their own 9. where they began to move the ball. De- fensive plays by Ace McCurdy. David Hinton, Bob Bergin. and Jay Porter held the Tigers at the Moss Point 29. Beginning the second half. runs by Todd Oliver and Tony Taylor earned the Tornadoes a first down at the Laurel 40. but were later forced to punt. Micheal Sam- pson picked up a fumble and McCurdy intercepted a Moss Point After a scoreless half. Moss Point took their second series of the 3rd quarter and drove 40 yards in 9 plays for a TD.
