North Natchez-7, Laurel-6 The homecoming spirit was dampened hy rain and wind as the Tornadoes met the North Natchez Rams. The scoring began in the second quarter when the Rams used alternating passing and running plays to penetrate the Tornado defense. The score came on a one yard run. The low conversion. which crossed the bar, proved to be the winning point. Marvin McCurdy fell on a Ram fumble. hut the Tor- nadoes lost the hall two plays later. The Tornadoes only score came in the third quarterfa one yard plunge hy Joe Westmoreland. Brian Dennis' conversion kick was blocked: the score, 7-6. Greg Rahaim recovered an- other Ram fumble, but it was also lost. The fourth quarter was nothing more than a display of halted drives. incompleted passes. and fumbles. The only score in the game came with the Tornadoes driving the entire length ofthe field. Alvin Gore and Joe Westmoreland got substantial ground gains while Tony Taylor passed to Bo Myrick during crucial 3rd down plays. The drive was completed when Taylor found Alvin Gore for the touchdown pass. Later, Gore got a 50 yd. rushing play only to have the drive bog down and die.
