South Natchez scored first on a 12 yd. run. The PAT made the score 7-0. The Tomadoes came back with a Tony Taylor to Bo Myrick touchdown pass. Jason Jones added the PAT to even the score. The Colonels gained seven more points on a scoring run and PAT. With 30 seconds left in the half. Dale Davis in- tercepted a Colonel pass and ran 48 yd. for the TD. The PAT was blocked, giving Natchez a one point halftime advantage. Two third quarter Natchez scores boosted the Colonel total to 28 points. The fourth quarter looked promising for the Tournadoes until a Natchez player picked off a Westmoreland bound pass. South Natchez scored again for the final points ofthe night. tn! Moss Point-13, Laurel-9 The Tornadoes next attempted unsuccessfully to repeat last year's shutout of the Moss Point Tigers. The first quarter was scoreless. A Taylor pass was inter- cepted in the second quarter which lead to a Moss Point TD. The PAT was blocked, making the score 6-0. Marvin McCurdy picked up a Tiger fumble a few minutes later. Taylor lobbed short passes to move the ball downfield before finally hitting Todd Oliver for the TD. The snap was bobbledg 6 all. Taylor, having been injured. turned command over to Tim Cranford who started a downfield drive. The drive stalled, but Jason Jones added 3 points with a 26 yd. field goal. Picayune-0, Laurel-20 The Tornadoes broke their two game losing streak when the Picayune Maroon Tide visited the Watkins Stadium. The first quarter opened with Tony Taylor hitting Bo Myr- ick for a 22 yd. scoring play. Brian Dennis made good the conversion kick, ousting the score to 7-zip. ln the second quarter. Joe Westmoreland ended another drive with a one yard scoring run. The score was 13-zip after e uf, the PAT failed. Early in the fourth quarter. Ronnie Hitchcock fell on a Pi- to cayune fumble. Two plays later, Taylor hit Dale Davis seven yards out for the TD. Dennis booted the PAT to end the scor- ing in Laurel's first shutout. Final Score: Picayune-Azip.
