Biloxi-14, Laurel-21 In the second home game ofthe season, Laurel got back on the win side by defeating the Biloxi Indians. Tony Taylor hit Alvin Gore. Bo Myrick. and Joe Westmoreland for deep gains into Indian territory. Westmoreland ran in for six points. and Brian Dennis added the extra point. Laurel took a Bi- loxi punt and set up another scoring drive. Westmoreland brought the score up to I4-0 on an Mup the middle running play. Laurel scored again in the third quarter. Taylor shot passes to Alvin before finally zeroing-in on Bo in the end zone. Dennis added his third successful PAT of the night. The Indians changed their strategy in the fourth quarter. Pascagoula-36, Inurel-7 Laurel's record fell to l-l as the Tornadoes traveled to Pasca- goula and met Rooster Jones. Rooster scored first on a 3 yd. run with a successful PAT follow- ing. Laurel was unable to move the ball and returned it to the Pan- thers who added seven more points to their total. Laurel's only score came late in the second quarter when Tony Taylor hit Bo Myrick in the end zone. Brian Dennis' PAT made the score I4 to 7. Greg Rahaim intercepted a Panther pass but Dennis missed the 40 yd. field goal attempt. Rooster scored again in the third quarter from one yard out, but the PAT was blocked. A high snap cost the Tornadoes another two points in a safety. The fourth quarter opened with a 43 yd. TD pass and two point conversions for the Panthers. Moss Point-13, Laurel-9 The Tornadoes next attempted unsuccessfully to repeat last year's shutout of the Moss Point Tigers. The first quarter was scoreless. A Taylor pass was inter- cepted in the second quarter which lead to a Moss Point TD. The PAT was blocked, making the score 6-0. Marvin McCurdy picked up a Tiger fumble a few minutes later. Taylor lobbed short passes to move the ball downfield before finally hitting Todd Oliver for the TD. The snap was bobbledg 6 all. Taylor, having been injured. turned command over to Tim Cranford who started a downfield drive. The drive stalled, but Jason Jones added 3 points with a 26 yd. field goal.
