Gunning Richard Hauhuth Adam Henby David Hendrickson Brenda Henley Andrea Holmes John Kevin Hoxie Dale Hughey It Happened One Night It was a September night, the night of the biggest dance of the year. All of us gathered in the gym to participate in a de-meaning event known as freshmen initiation. The class of 1981 had a lot of fun humiliating us. The seniors of ’81 dressed us up in everything from wigs to diapers. The seniors made us eat lim-burger cheese, garlic, onions, lemons, and even had us chew on raw bones. Most of us were covered with shaving cream, chocolate pie, rotten eggs, and vaseline. The seniors made us kiss their feet, and shine their shoes. We pushed pennies down the hall with our noses and crawled on the floor using only our hands. The most demeaning event of the evening was the recitation of this chant: We are dirt. Yes, We bite the dust Seniors in you, our lives we entrust. We are illiterate, ignorant fools of the school. But through this all, we know that seniors rule. We are the filth, the scum, the rotting end And to each senior we will faithfully tend. We are the cheapest, the ugliest and definitely the worst And in our hearts, the Class of ’81, the Seniors will always be FIRST. The freshman display their ability in a chorus line. 12 The Way We Were Seniors
