phosis which is a common allment of all students from tlmld wondering freshmen to wtser more posltlve seniors ready to face the challenges of adult llfe Act l Time 1954 1955 Settlng Freshman Class Dlrectors Mrs Ione Groh Mr Bill Butterworth STARS John Emmett Ritter played the lead admirably as President with Mary Wakeman standing by as his understudy Vlce President Carol Madden portrayed the Fmancler and Pat Erb was the Secretary Jerald Young did a walk on in the role of Press Agent Supporting Cast Gerald Scott Ella Snodgrass Linda Young Evelyn Clark Joyce Ulsh Phyllis Billups John Propheter POCEY Engeman Bill Goacher Carol Slgrlst J D Euler Larry Lade Evelyn Berger Judy Plautz David Ramsel Beverly Studer Sue Bradshaw Marlene Schneider and Norene Moskau There were 28 ln the cast Scene I The fxrst scene rolled em ID the 815165 for the freshmen made a big hxt wlth the senxors from the start Just to show them how big a hxt the semors gave them a worthy lnxtlatxon The freshmen were dressed as fairy tale or comic stnp characters and were awarded bxg green Fs for thelr foreheads The semors however made amends that evening by invxting them all to a hayride and plcnic Scene ll The action ln scene two centered around two parties One given the first half of the scene was ln the form of a tour taken to the various theaters and bowling centers in St Joseph second party These were very strenuous parts but practically all made a hlt ln fact the stage fairly shook' Act ll Txme 1955 1956 Settlng Sophomore Class Dxrectors Mrs lone Groh Mrs Chrlstena Elliott STARS Mary Wakeman got her big chance and went from understudy to the lead as President Joyce Ulsh took over the role of understudy John Ritter switched to Flnancier and Jeanne Propheter played the Secretary Publicity was handled by Carol Madden New names on the program were Terry Springstead and Judy Mason However Judy Plautz Jerald Young John Propheter and Bill Goacher dropped from the play and Gerald Scott trans ferred to a different road company The curtaln fell on a cast of 25 Scene I This scene was largely a money making exhxbltlon The cast operated the concession stand at football and basket ball games The directors were well pleased with the box office results An after the play party was next on the program The actors dld another chorus number on skates They had made such a blg hlt in the first act that an attempt was made to make an even bigger one this time They did Scene Il Another party was enacted at a local movie house The cast expressed enjoyment of a movie and a short snack afterward As an encore the cast was asked to serve at the JunxorSen1or Banquet They bowed out to a full house and appreciative applause Act lll Tlme 19561957 Setting Junlor Class Directors Mrs Lucy Shxfflett Mr Edward Nicklaus STARS The starring role of President was interpreted by Larry Lade Judy Mason did a fine job as his understudy Vice President Carol Slgrlst drew notxce m the Stenographer role Pat Erb stepped to the footllghts as Auditor and Marlene Schneider received an ovation for her portrayal of the Press Agent The supporting players ln the prologue were the same as in act two with the addition of Dorrel Sllvy and June Gibson However Ella Snodgrass soon left the cast to play a housewife in a domestic drama Walter Schuman resigned to take a part ln a navy documentary and Erma Hoffman dropped from the cast Though thus decreased to 24 the cast gradually swelled to 27 wlth the entrance of Joyce Carlstead Larry Fleener and Robert Wisler Joyce Carlstead however was dissatisfied with her part and soon transferred again to another troupe and therefore 28 members were left to recite the epilogue Scene I As in act II the plot concerned flnanclal dealings House receipts were good Backstage the cast was delighted to receive ms-tead of the traditional flowers newly designed class rings They celebrated this with a party held at a local theatre The company bus was at their disposal and travel expenses were prepaid Scene Il The curtam opener was that perennlal hlt The Skating Party Then the cast playing behind the scenes were hosts to the Seniors at the annual banquet After taklng them on a Hawaiian Crunse and emoymg every minute of lt the crew waved them ashore with a sad Aloha A command per formance of Thank You Mr Parker was gxven as an encore and the Fmancier reported excellent notlces Act IV Time 1957 1958 Setting Senior Class Directors Miss Josephine Klefer STARS J D Euler received rave notlces for his portrayal of President Joyce Ulsh repeated her second act performance as understudy The part of Secretary was a walk away for Carol Slgrist and Sue Bradshaw took over the part of the Fmancier when lt was vacated by the resignation of Jeanne Propheter Dorrel Sllvy was a believable Press Agent Four supporting players left the cast during the summer lay off bringing it down to 22 members Larry Lade and Judy Mason signed contracts with a different producer and Linda Young and June Gibson Joined the soap opera circult as house wives Jeanne Propheter joined the same circult at mid term and appeared with the West Coast company The play closed with 21 members ln the cast Scene l The final act was fast moving and full of actlon Several flnanclal skits won monetary prizes due to the unceas mg efforts and enthusxasm of the cast All this was to raxse funds for the trip to be taken at the end of the run of the play First was a Christmas Formal Dance then another after the play party It was a benefit party for the class to which the crew directors producers sponsors and even the audience were tnvxted-to see how much of a hit they could make on skates' For the encore part of the cast did Tlsh and again bowed to a blg house and resounding applause Scene II A part of the action during thls scene was a dem onstratlon on the care of the baby Wildcat-born during the last scene Everyone was glven a task to perform and all came ln on cue The finale was the Junlorsenlor Banquet where the entire cast were guests of the Juniors and in return gave them a party The curtain has fallen on these four DFCCIOUS and most memorable acts Even so it is about to rise again on the most important play the cast will ever appear ln- Their Future This experience has molded and shaped them into what they are and what they will be It ls up to them to make the most of it The xnvaluable experience they have recelved during these last four acts should have equipped them wel1 to play outstand ing parts on the stage of Life And their fond memories should be a constant
