The members of the Senior High Chorus are selected from students in the sophomore, junior, and senior classes. This group presents four concerts during the school year. The Chorus also attends the Annual Kalamazoo Festival at Western Michigan University in the spring. The past two years the Cho- rus has hosted several surrounding schools at a practice for this event. During the 1958-1959 school year, the Chorus had the honor of representing all of the class C schools in this district at the Michigan Education Association meeting at Kalamazoo. Finally, the Cho- rus wound up the year by receiving a first division rating at the Berrien County Music Festival. The Symphonettes are a special group of girls composed of singers from the sophomore class through the senior class. They participate at all four of the vocal music concerts. When invited, the group per- forms for special occasions. The Troubadours consist of an accomplished group of upper classmen boys who have been together for three years. They have appeared on WKZO television, and they have par- ticipated in talent contests with much success. The boys also sing at the vocal music concerts and all special events. The Watervliet Senior Chorus is fortunate to have Mr. William Ham- berger as its director. This past year he attended the Fred Waring Workshop for music directors at the Conrad Hilton Hotel in Chicago. It is largely through Mr. Hamberger's patience and persever- ance that the Watervliet Senior Chorus is considered one of the best vocal groups in this area.
