With a sehedule overloaded with power-houses, Watertown still managed to have a sueeessful season of five wins, four defeats, and one tie. Nlueh eredit nlust be given to our splendid eoaehes Joe Ze-no, Jim Sheehan, John Nlantenuto, and Vharles Mc-fialian, who must have grown ten years older in this Hwin, then lose season. Some of the big guns on the Xrsenal- Towners team were t'o-Vaptains Jini Lopez and John Ylaehos. Together with Gene ltenzi, these boys were ehosen on the Suburban All Star Teani beeause of their ability to play the best brand of football. Not only did these boys win Suburban First dozen for John Zona. honors but they also made the Vlass B All Sc-holastie team. which included Paul Stackpole too. t'nlike other years, this season proved to have a different outstanding player for eaeh game. Paul Stackpole seared Broekton out of its wits when he started eatehing out-of-this-world passes. John Zona made Dedham look siek when he erashed through the Dedham line. The whole YYatertown line, whieh ineluded players like Gene Itenzi. Moe Tavitian, .Xraln Bazarian, John Ylaehos, and Dave Foley, threw Chelsea all over the gridiron. The season as a whole was exeiting, thrilling. and enjoyable. Une of the big games of the year was won by the Raiders when they upset the Orange and lllaek of Newton. The thriller of the year proved to be the lYinc-hester game in whieh XYatertown was nipped 7-6. Un Turkey lfay the loyal Yvatertown fans had every- thing in the world to yell about. for rival Helniont was buried 26-6. This victory enabled Watertown to win a sec-ond leg on the beautiful Bernard Nlc-Hugh Trophy. whieh needs but one more victory to be throughout the season: for niany games like retired. fron!
