In the first half of the year elementary mathematics and historical development of the subject were studied. The latter part was spent mainly on navigation. The club's activities also included simple arithmetical puzzles, trick problems, and modern methods of computation. Nlembers interested in manual work used their skill in the interests of the club. They produced models which could be used better to explain and illustrate the methods used by the ancients for calculations. The treasurer collected dues every Friday and with these the club planned to buy mechanical devices and books for the use of future members.
