Lnppino Combining speed in the field as Well as on the base paths with a slashing batting attack, the Red and Black nine had a very successful season on the diamond. Although Coach Keaney had to begin with only two first team veterans, good material was found to fill the gaps left in last year's roster by graduation, and an early spring and good Weather made possible a long pre-season practice period at Victory Field. Hustling Joe Boyce created a spark which spread to the rest of the infield. Fancy Dan McBride with his smooth fielding and timely hitting, was a valuable asset. John 0'Connell proved to he the mainstay of the moundsmen while Hankl' Germagian handled Very nicely the catchc-r's chores. During this span his teams have always finished high in the Greater Boston District Golf League standing-evidence of the time and effort he has contributed to Wiatertown athletics. Led by Bill Casey, captain and number one man, the Hdivot-diggers had a victorious season. Keen competition featured the 194-6 contests but smart all- round play by Ken Billings, a talented veteran of last year, and Leo McKeon, who has taken up where his brothers Paul and Jack left off, were major factors in the team's success.
