Many rallies were held in the auditorium during homeroom periods to try out the new cheers and to encourage support and loyalty to our football squad. The cheerleaders accompanied the team to all the games and did much to arouse the en- thusiasm of the crowd. ln addition to cheering at the usual football games, the cheerleaders were also invited to cheer at an exhibition game held for the soldiers at Fort Devens. So another inspiring year has passed but we shall always remember the splen- did job the cheerleaders have done in supporting our team and giving them the necessary fighting spirit. SIunfliny.' Kelley After receiving an honorable discharge from the Army Air Corps, Lieutenant Keaney took over the coaching reins of the Red and Black football squad. litilizing a heavy line and light, fast backs, he introduced to NY. H. a modified T formation with a man in motion. Saugus, aided by Red and Black fumbles, won the opening game of the pig- skin parade. At Dedham the teams battled to a scoreless tie in a drenehing drizzle. However, on the brighter side of the picture, the Red Raiders overwhelineel a strong ltlarl- boro eleven 9047, at Fort Devens, with injured veterans spectators.
