Members study voice and its articulation into speech and practice exercises for posture, breathing, voice production, and articulation. The breathing apparatus, the speech mechanism, and the elements of tone are analyzed. Ifnder Miss Norcross's direction members learn how to improve their speak- ing voices through control of breath, through proper initiation of tone, through correct resonance, and through control of pitch and volume. In all these exercises the phonetic approach is used. The club is recommended to Seniors and Juniors who sense the need of good speech i11 developing a greater self-confidence. Looney, J. Henglii, R. Dodge, A. Ross, IC. Gallagher, IC. Morgan The purpose of the Tennis Club has been to further interest in tennis and to improve the skill of the individual members. During the year the club welcomed as a guest the noted tennis lecturer and winner of many trophies, lwrs. George Wightman, who demonstrated various strokes and explained the techniques of some of her famous pupils. At one meeting hfr. lN'IcKey showed films of famous matches. Some members of the club attended the match between Bobby Riggs and Don Budge at the Boston Garden. This year the Tennis Club has been sponsoring badminton in the gym on i'Vednesday during the homeroom period. Under the able direction of our sponsor, Bliss Rita Tierney, the club hoped that by the end of the year the members would all become 'Amasters of the court.
