THE HISTORY OF THE CLASS OF I955 History has been written about important persons and things but you will agree there isn't a better or more important subject for history than our class of '55, In 1943 an eager group of boys and girls entered Watertown Elementary School. Sixteen of these are in our Senior Class. They are: Ted Wright, Dot Bailey, Glen Beard, Gerald Cowan, Virginia Ann Jacobs, Don Hudson, Jessie Ruth Russell, Elbert Mathis, Don McClanahan, Marie Hall, Richard Donnell, Ben Thomas Powell, Betty Rhea Malone, Billy Joe Allison, Don Bass and I. Those were happy years with all their happy experiences and wonderful teachers who guided us through the tender years. Time passed and soon we were in Junior High, which was different from our first years of school, At first we felt quite lost with all of those upper classmen, but soon learned their ways and got along with them very well. As Freshmen in 1951 surely we felt we knew about all there was to know but as Silly Sophomores we found we had a great deal more to learn before going out to meet the world on our own. As Jolly Juniors we were beginning to think of the future. Some of the outstanding things happen- ing were the Junior-Senior Banquet, selecting our rings, electing our class officers. Again time rapidly passed and now we are Seniors. This year has been packed with many exciting things, such as: receiving our class rings, electing class officers, electing annual staff, electing paper staff, Junior-Senior Banquet, sports, publishing The Purple Tiger , class play and Commencement exercises. Soon we shall be graduating. To our sponsors, Miss Elwe Griffith and Mr. P.L. Gott, and the entire faculty, we thank you for your wonderful guidance during our school days. To each '55 senior, face the future the way you have faced these past 12 years and I know you can't go wrong. - f ly X. ,,:l,,, it 4 ' - ,. ,xii ,J Fr W - E' V,Eyil'4f3'!Hls-:Lu 1 I sili 1, Peggy La Fevor Historian 'W be WM ' as ff -L , 'fsxsgwgjf' Q, 1. 1- ,,a:'st3 .lv-rx if
