EDSFL FLOYD the Hardware King Is saving up money to buy a ring fFor Margie J And BOBBY BLANKFNSHIP the famous crooner Makes the swooners swoon sooner There was MARY STFWART with her stately air Is now marrled to a guy who has no hair KATHRYN FOUTCH Wlth her long blonde tresses Lives 1n Paris designing dresses HFSTFR LFA is still working at Kuhns Behind th e counter selling prunes ROBBIP BOBUM is often seen raking hay Since she wrecked the Chevrolet WILLETTE Hbnsox who was true to her Alma Ma ter Is now a star at the Royal Theater BETTY BASS in school was a bubble blower But now for Corky she pushes the lawn mower ETHYLI INI- Domsim. still vsaiting for her feller S lls cider from a barrel 1n her celler HELFN HLNT Sunday School teacher Is married to Rev Hall a Baptist preacher

HISTUHY Ulf THE CLASS UF 1948 In the fall of 1936 a gloup of small boys and glrls fox med a lme on the rlght slde of the xx alk 1n front of Wateltoxvn Grammax School We xx ere alext and eager to see xx hat xxfts gomg to happen but lxttle d1d xxe reallze the act1v1t1es of the years that lay before us Among that group xxas Betty Bass Ma ry Stexvart Kathleen Smlth Helen Hunt Kathlyn Foutch Edsel Flovd Halbert LaFever Hugh Thomas Joseph Stalllngs and I A pleasant looklng lady appeared ln the doorxx ay and beckoned us to come ln A xxe seated ourselves 1n the small seats she lntroduced herself as MISS Maly Lltchfold We all '1pp1ec1ate the splendid guldance she gave us durmg that short yea1 The txme passed qulckly and It was the sprlng of 37 We had knoxvn many Joys ln our IIVGS before but none so great as school bemg out The tlme sped by and we found ourselves 1n the second glade Thls year seemed very brlef and so d1d all the other years of Grammar School untll we reached the elghth grade ln the year of 1944 ThlS seemed to be the most excltmg year 1n our l1ves In the sprmg of that year the only subject you xvo uld hear bemg dlscussed was our gradua tlon Our graduatlon xvas soon over and we looked forward to our first year ln hlgh school In the fall we reallzed xve xvere another group of green freshmen We felt al most as out of place as we d1d the first day ln 1936 when xve entered Mlss Mary s room That year students were added from the sur roundlng communltles of Alexandrla Shop Mr D F Adklsson was our new pI'1l'1C1pEi1 that year and although he d1d thmk xxe xvere a llttle nolsy he stlll thought xve were a '11ce group Through h1s splendld guldance our freshman year was one of our happlest Our Sophomore year was another to be remembered Of course l1ke any other group xve felt superlor to the Freshman but we soon dlscovered our mlstake Last year we found xve xvere really Jolly Junlors Mr T W Bruce xvas our nexx prlnclpal and through h1S kmdness and sple ndld leadershlp we found our Jumor year to be a very happy and successful one Also th ere was the excltement of selectlnff our class rmgs for the next year the Juruor and Sem or Receptlon and the Class Play Cash and Carrle Thls was all so new to us and then the thought m our mlnds of Next year we ll be Semors The tlme passed qulckly and the fall of 1947 was here The year we had looked for xx ard to the year we felt xx ould be one of the happiest years of our hves The Hrst great event of the year xvas the day xve recelved our class rmgs Then there was the electlon of class ofiicers and Sponsors electlon of the annual staff Jun1o1 Semor receptlon Class Basketball Tournament our class play The Atomlc Blonde and varlous other soclal actxvltles There s st1ll the same dlscusslon that xvas heard ln 1944 'Our graduatlon We express our appreclatlon to MISS Ma ry Burton and Mr Earl Baker our sopnsors Mr T W Bruce and the entlre faculty for thelr help and guxdance through these hlgh school years Whatever success xxe may ac hleve m llfe xxe oxxe the gratltude to our Alma Mater WILLETTE HL DSON 'I . 1 yf ' 1 . 1 7 Q 1 v L. CLASS GALEN SNVANN with the school boy complexion, still looks in the mirror at his reflection. JAMES HOBSON whose looks and brains were his proudest possessions has chosen farming now as his profession. ' 'EF l HERBERT CORLEY was tall, dark and handsome, qi has riches galore and lives in a mansion. Lois BAIN is settled in her country home, with her husband, dog, and a bone. LILLIAN LASATER, who loved to tarry is still hoping for someone to marry. WALLACE ROBINSON still wandering from place to place, next year plans to enter the President's race. There's EVELYN AGEE from down Greenwood way, is now married deciding shorthand wouldn't pay. A lazy guy was GENE LAFEVER, but now he wor ks just like a beaver. EDELL HEARN who was always happy, is now in college but is still called Pappy. NINA RAY SHORES from Norene way, is now dancing and singing for Sammye Kay. ALIIEN BELL who's still kinda plump now has his girl up a stump. JAMES FORD from Brush Creek way, is now a football player with high pay. And ole' HOWELI. HARVEY, a gay young blade, is still in Statesville in the shade. ROBERT BAILEY who used to clerk, works in the Valley as a soda-jerk. JEAN OWNBY who has just made her will, has finally decided to settle down with Bill. And who's this cowboy in a speciled vest? Why it's LEWIS THLMAS, away out west. RAYMLND LEA of football fame, still says, Duh who do I hit next? KATHLEEN SMITH, who was quite a thrush is modeling bathing suits, now don't blush. KATHRYN LASATER, is mighty coy, but oh, how she loves that Beadle boy. And HALBERT and DELBERT and JERRY of Chain Gang fame you know, are now a singing quartet appearing in a big picture show. CLIl 1'0N JOHNSON whom they all called Zark lives in the city near the park. BOBBY HARRIS a very fine boy, now lives in town and makes toys. ROBERT THOMAS with his big feet works for the city sweeping the streets. JoE HUFFMAN the blond headed guy, is now a detective, and very very sly. And that's all I canfNo wait! who's this? Why it's Miss Burton and Mr. Baker, our wonderful teachers, sitting in a pew listening to somepreacher. But seriously, gang, may the best of everything be yours. SUE ATWOOD Yu
