Prom couples assembled in the cafeteria and proceeded to the gym at 10:30 for the grand march. Once again, the Elks Club of Watertown sponsored the post prom entertainment. Greek Classic Presented at WHS The winter play this year was Antigone, a Greek classic. The play dealt with whether the laws of man can overrule the laws of the higher power. Mr. Hellrung, Drama teacher, explained, Classical theatre is a very integral part of a good Dramatics pro- gram, and until this year, it was missing at WHS. An- tigone marked the first classical exposure students received in drama. The greatest barrier that the Drama Department en- countered was understanding the language, but the stu- dents handled it very well. Mr. Tiedemann, Latin teach- er, served as Cultural Advisor for the play. His insight into the Greek way of life and religious beliefs helped us immensely, replied Mr. Hellrung. Mr. Hellrung commented, The level of performance far surpassed the level commonly reached in high school productions. The students handled it with an excellent degree of professionalism and worked well together to create an ensemble on stage. l. The Choragus fchorusj appealed and sacrificed to the gods to ease their troubled land. 2. Creon fChris Reedj accused the prophet, Tieresias tBill Jannkej, of taking a bribe to falsely prophesize. 20 Antigone
