The group encourages a spirit of fellowship and confers upon deserving can- didates a worthy badge of distinction. Students become members by earning points and participating in interscholastic speech com- petition and by speaking before civic organiza- tions in the community. Upon earning twenty points a student becomes a member of N.F.L. W.H.S. had twenty-two members initiated dur- ing the school year. Initiation for these mem- bers was held in February. Total membership in N.F.L. is now forty. After a student becomes a member he may earn advanced degrees by earning additional points. He is granted the degree of honor, the degree of excellence, and the degree of distinction after earning fifty, one hundred, and two hundred points respectively. Each year the N.F.L. members elect eight stu- dents to participate in the Student Congress. Marilyn Gottschalk, Bob Wagner, Lee Raymond, Steve Smith, Kathy Bierne, Donna Moeller, Deanna Pella, and John Dugan were elected this year.
