Pep busses are great! Fantastic! We (who go) love ' em. It would be nice if they had more pep busses going to away games. They shouldn ' t have pep busses when there is a home game because it would just take away from the already small crowds at the home games. ' Pep busses give kids a chance to get away from home. A bus ride is boring unless you can sing and walk around. Pep busses really helped build up spirit in me for away meets. Pep busses are bad news for anyone who wants to sleep. When you pay to go on a pep bus. you really went to go-— it ' s not like people who como to games at West. ABOVir ' »i ' o Pep Club members help promote apirit fc the football players. The Drill Team is good, but they would be more en- joyable if they just used the Indian outfits they had before, instead of the purple and white. The Drill Team would be better if they had a little more practice, so at least they all knew the routine. It adds something to halftime besides just sitting. It doesn ' t hurt anybody to watch Drill Team so I don ' t understand all the criticism. FAR LEFT: Barbara Thompson. LEFT: Mr. Clarence McConkey. ABOVE: Westettes boogie again

The Bellamy Award is an award to a school for showing patriotism and citizenship and for being an asset to the community. I am not really sure what the Bellamy Award is. I think they should have a program to ex- plain it. I like West High and the Bellamy Award is something that means a lot to the school, so I like it. Bellamy Award? It means nothing, absolutely nothing. Presently, we are all— students and staff— forced to bear the burden of an award most of us do not want, appreciate or care about. Perhaps if we had to earn it through competition with other schools we would feel it had more value. The students at West just don ' t meet the Bellamy Award qualifications anymore. We sure could be a Bellamy School again ... we ' re a great school! C ' ' N ••What is Boys ' State? If I knew a little more about it, I might be interested. ' •Boys ' State is when representatives from high schools meet in one central place to discuss our government and then they go through their own elec- tion process. I wouldn ' t be a representative to Boys ' State — I ' m a girl! Boys ' State is only important to those who attend. ' Boys ' State helps form the leaders of tomorrow. ' •Boys ' State has no importance to me. Why not send a girl to Girls ' State? It would be a good chance for girls to learn more about the government, since there are more women In politics everyday. Let ' s mix everyone up and make it Coed State ... after all, they don ' t have a separate govern- ment for men and women. ABOVE: Bellamy delegate Chris Kabele heads tor New Hampshire with some at her Waterloo gifts. LEFT: Boys ' State delegates Scott Granger and Ron Ott fashion their lives after one of our more prominent leaders.
