Second Row: Quin Jordan, Debbie Harned, Lisa Meade, Nietha Nebbit, Kaye Knut- son. We don ' t need cheerleaders— we don ' t even need school spirit. It ' s not fair to stereotype cheer- leaders—nobody is alike. A lot of people try out for popularity only. I would like to be a cheerleader because it would be challenging and fun, Boys who are out for gym- nastics should be cheerleaders. A cheerleader shouldn ' t have to be the cutest or the richest. I like to cheer and show team spirit. f lost people think all cheerleaders are snobs, mainly because they ' re jealous. Why don ' t boys try out for cheer- leading?— They aren ' t stupid! Cheerleaders should promote school spirit everyday — not just on game days. The cheerleaders look bored while they ' re doing their cheers. I wouldn ' t want a boy to be a cheerleader — girls have better legs. CENTER LEFT: Sue Meade cools off during sophomore cheerleading practice. CENTER RIGHT: Debbie Jacobi. I Flag Twirlers are just like being cheerleaders or going out for a sport; it ' s another type of activity to get girls active in school. Girls just want to be Flag Twirlers for popularity. Flag Twirlers are for entertainment at half time for the football games, but with the music of the bands and drills provided it does create some pep. There ' s not enough enthusiasm for the Flag Twirlers; there should be more. All Flag Twirlers do at basketball games Is to get run down by basketball players and hit and kicked by cheerleaders. Flag Twirlers are good in marching band — but I don ' t think the pom-pom routine does much because everybody leaves the stands at half time. think a girl would want to be a Flag Twirler just to show off. There are enough girls who go out for Flag Twirling, so you may as well keep it. Flag Twirlers during the football season are good with the marching band. ABOVE: First Row: Sue Siglin, Pam Sutton. Sue Ehlenleldt. Second Row: Debbie Wicklund. Claudia Burroughs, Mary Susong. UPPER RIGHT: Debbie Wicklund ' s mind wanders as she searches through the crowd. RIGHT: Claudia Burroughs makes a wish lor the loot- ball team. FAR RIGHT: Mary Susong says. I didn ' t use my anti-perspirant yesterday and I might not today.
