Westettes Ma rch a nd Kick in Step Drill Team, in new red uniforms frimmed wifh flashing whife braid, marched colorfully fhrough half- fime af fhe baskefball games. They also performed in fhe Variefy Show. Sixfeen girls and five alfernafes pracficed af 7:30 every morning in fhe girls' gym during fhe bas- kefball season. Their roufines were creafed by fheir faculfy advisers, Mr. Clarence lv1cConkey and Mrs. Pafricia Harper, wifh suggesfions from Sue Daven- porf, capfain of drill feam and from fhe girls fhem- selves. The girls were chosen in fryoufs by a group of judges from oufside fhe school on fhe basis of Drill feam members seem a liffle weary af one of fheir 7:30 a.m. pracfices. rhyfhm, poise. appearance, cooperafion. and a friendly smile. The girls earned money af a bake sale fo help pay for fheir new uniforms.
