Orchestra Director Dorothy Johnson Orchestra The lights dimmed, the attention of the audi- ence was on Miss Johnson-this meant the orchestra was about to perform. And so it was for the Evening of Music, the two per- formances of the Christmas program, the Music Festival, and other occasions. Class time and outside hours were devoted by these musicians to perfect the selections chosen for concerts. As in post years, West had a group of talented individuals combining their efforts to form an orchestra of superior quality. Silver Strings Formals, tuxedos, and a beautiful blend of music -this was our Silver Strings. With stu- dents from West Junior as well as West High, this fine musical group entertained at ban- quets, the fall play, and assembly programs at West High and West Junior. The quality and superb performances were always enioyed and will be remembered.

Entertaining the Kiwanis Club, singing in the Christmas program and the Evening of Music, appearing on television, and joining with the East High Chorus in the Music Festival will always be pleasant memories tor these students. Especially different this year was the formation of barbershop quartets --- tor girls as well as boys.
