CLASS HISTORY The second of September 1947 saw the class of 51 assembled for the flrst tlme ln the mam room of dear old Waterloo l-llgh School Alrhouqh ewerythlnq was new to us we were not so verdant as the usual run of freshmen are From the flrst our class was characterlzed by an unusual amount of class splrlt The start of the year found us electmq Roger lloman as Presldent Donald Holzhueter as xlce presxdent and Eunlce Detert as secretary and treasurer Wlth the ald of our ad usor Mr Clark we sponsored many hlqh school partles and candy sales As we returned to beqln our second year III the fall of 48 we found that seven of our former classmates had dropped out of school and that three had entered leav1nq thlrty flve members on the class roll Our act1v1t1esth1s year mcluded hlgh school partles selllng pop corn at athletic exents and school luncheons Our offlcers for the year were ames White pres1dent Marv Allce Gehler vlce pres1dent and Delores Wllke secretary and treasurer The f1rst excltmg exent of our umor year was not the flrst day of school when we became upperclassmen but class electlon dax when the pres1dent and klng for the forth comlng prom was to be chosen Robert Doschadxs recelved thls honor Gary Grainger was elected VICE pres1dent Eumce Detert secretary and Ruth Deppe treasurer On May 12 the umor Class presented R ndezxous 1n Faxryland with l'low1e Emerson and hls orchestra It was attractlvely and appropriately decorated ln pastel colors and large murals of Falryland characters The court of honor w hlch was announced Aprnl 21 at the Pre Prom mcludecl Klng Robert Doschadls and h1s queen Rachel Mosher Gary Gramger and Mary Allce Gehler Clayton Taxes and Eunlce Detert Ronald Sellnow and Ruth Deppe and ames White and Delores Wxlke The chlld attendants were Thomas Wxlke and Dlane Detert A much awalted event 1n the school llfe of the umors was the day that the class rlngs and pms arrlxed Es eryone was well pleased and happy to haxe received thelrs Eunlce Detert and Gary Cvramger were chosen as representatrves to Badger G1rls and Bcys State Other actxvltles of the year were much the same as years before On September f1fth 1950 our class returned to the halls of Waterloo Hxgh School for the last time VVe elected as our leaders thls y ar Sylx ester Hamshlre president Ronald Sellnow uce pres1dent Rachel Mosher secretary and Delores Wllke treasurer One of the blggest exents IH our Senlor year was the class play Wh1ch was presented on March 8 9 Here We Go Again a comedy dlrected by Mr Lawrenz was well re cened and lt was dlscovered that sexeral members of the cast had great dramatlc talent Aqaln thls year a Career Day w as held On Aprll 17 the Senxor Class traveled to May xllle Hlgh School where representatlves from different flelds of work explamed the xocatlon to the students On May 23 the Class Dav was spent nn ChlC8qO The class attended one educatlonal slte as a body whlle the rest of the day was soent cn lI1CllN1dU3l mterests One of our classmates Earl Kurtz left school the second semester of 51 to enlist ln the US Naxy Delores Wllke the only senior cheerlead r has always been 1nterested ln athletlcs and has falthfully serx ed the teams of Waterloo 1-1 gh fcr four years Music has played a large part IH the school lnes of most members of our class who haxe taken Xery actlve part ln Band Chorus and Glee Club all four years of thelr hlqh school career Orlqmallty and clexerness has been displayed 111 the last two years when we haxe re cened first place among class floats m the H mecommq Parade Mlss Dledrlck our class aduscr for the last three vears has qxxen us much help and quldance for whlch we are xery grateful Graduatlcn was held May 31 Anqus B Rothwell Supermtendent of School at Manx towoc delnered the commencement address Marv Alxce Gehler qaxe the xaledlctory and Eumce Detert the salutatory We are now qraduatmq and are xerv proud to be members of the Class of 51 We stand on the threshold of l'llqh School Llfe Behind us s 1 llts rlous past th us qlorlous present before us the exer mysterlous future What wlll be cm only be predicted from w hat his been future success of the Class of 51 then seems to be assured Marv Allce Gehler ' ' .
