HIGH SCHOO} In Miss Thomas' Art Class tk students developed basic knoy ledge of elements and principle of art through varied learning ex} perience. This year they learne; poster work, lettering, drawin;} design, painting, and art appreci§} ation. This general course serve} to acquaint students with tk major art fields. ‘Ahora si el mundo es chico'! --It's certainly a small world now! The Students in Mr. Steckler's Spanish class are meeting their South American neighbors through the pages of El Camino Real. The Romance languages may not seem very romantic to the pupils struggling through the in- tricacies of verb conjugations, but there is a real thrill in being able to translate smoothly a story written in a foreign language. ; SS Besides being helpful in later ee life, the study of Spanish is an in- teresting way to learn the history of the country and the customs of the people. Adios! The students in Mrs. Ford's Beginning Typing Class are trying hard to increase their speed and accuracy in typing.

-LASSES The way to a man's heart is irough his stomach. If this tatement is true, the girls in Irs. Butler's home economics lasses have nothing to worry bout. Here the freshman girls re learning the art of serving an ttractive and appetizing salad thich they have prepared them- elves. Because mathematics is es- sential in many fields of endeavor, the Waterloo High School Mathe- matics Department, headed by Mr. Ford, offers the students a broad and integrated foundation inthis course. Thanks to the able instruction of Mr. Ford, the stu- dent finds himself more capable of handling involved equations and intricate graphs, as shown in the picture of Mr. Ford's Advanced Algebra Class. In the biology classes, head- ed by Mr. Berg, students become familiar with such terms as osmosis and photosynthesis, as they view the microscopic world of the amoeba. Through dissection, students acquire a knowledge of the intri- cate internal parts of animals. This knowledge helps them to bet- ter understand the functions of the human body.
