Within the last year, Drama Club has become one of the most active organizations in our school. Under the leadership of Mr. Procino, these thirty students have proven themselves to be able thes- plans. Mr. Procino has taken on the task of teach- ing every phase of theatre to his club members this year. He has made it known that there is more to the theatre than acting. With this in mind, we are looking forward to many future produc- tions by Mr. Procino and his Drama Club. THE MIRACLE WORKER The Miracle Worker was the first production of the drama club this year. In this play William Gibson tells ofthe early life of Helen Keller. The plot revolves around the problems Anne Sullivan encounters while working with Helen. To add to the uniqueness of this play. it was performed in the round. Every night the 120 seats in the cafator- ium were filled. The audience showed their opinion of the play with a spontaneous applause. lt was obvious to everyone present that the drama club had again put on a successful play. ,mart-X W ,ff Ht X 715, V, L, ,.-, Q - ff zzusiggf 2 gli ' AND AWAY THEY G0 A familiar scene around the school on Thursday afternoons is the scattering of skiis, poles and boots in the gym lobby. The addition of a bus this year has enabie even more students to participate in this popular activ- ity. Ivlr. Andersen is the advisor of the group. SKI CLUB . We would like to thank the student body and the faculty for making these times happen. Without them this book would not be possible. We hope our efforts have been worthwhile. i 1 Row I: K. Nelson, S. The Student Council had the annual sale of student council cards in the fall. They were happy to see that approximate- ly 8070 of the student body bought cards. The Stu- dent Council also sponsored three dances this year. Each of these dances brought in money for future student council activities. Through the course of the year, many members have also at- tended the area student council meetings. lt is obvious to all that this year's student council did a fine job of governing our school. , F25-'QEQQV 'A it? . 3, -fu A fi! Under the direction of Mr. Schmidt, the board has per- formed in concerts and parades. This group of students has participated in concert competitions on the county and state level, and in the Gorham Pageant of Bands. They have also traveled to other schools to give concerts. Many of the stu- BRASS dents individually perform selected pieces of music to be judged at an area high school. This year, two students, Marg Cox and Randy Stewart, participated in the New York State School Music Association annual conference of The Concord, Lake Kiomesha in the Catskills. They felt thehex- perience to be a great asset to their future musical careers. Row I: T. Spiwak, A. Cardinale, T. Sperlazza, G. Seifert, P. S. Lipker, J. Capozzi. Row III: J. Newfrock, T. Marino, F. Schaumloeffel Manager 6 West Main St., Waterloo 539-9216 60 Fall St., Seneca Falls 568-9476 64 SHOULD YOU GO TO GOULD'S AFTER HIGH SCHOOL . . AFTER COLLEGE? Since 1874, time of the above engraving, more young men in Waterloo probably graduated to Goulds than graduated from high school. Fortunately, for both education and Goulds, things have changed. Both have grown enormously. Today the opportunities for education, both high school and college, are greater than ever before. The demands on the students, how- ever, are growing more intense. There is more com- petition. Same with pump companies. Some keep growing, others are drop-outs. Back in 1874, for ex- ample, there were four other pump companies in Sene- ca Falls. They're all long gone. We have some com- petitors, today, who are on shaky ground. They haven't done their homework, i.e., no new products, new ap- proaches to markets, etc. Success in schooling, suc- cess in pump manufacturing, both are the product of determined, skilled, enlightened people. We have them at Goulds Pumps, Inc., and we're proud that a great number of our key people are Waterloo Central graduates. Many are those who have gone on to col- lege and then returned to Waterloo and to Goulds. These illustrations show the change in Goulds plant facilities in the past 90 years. But Goulds is moving faster than that. In the past 10 years sales have more than doubled. To keep growing we need more good people to grow with. Consider Goulds as a good place to work after high school or college. i established in 1848 ' GOULD'S PUIVIPS, INC. CURRY APPLIANCES INC. 95 Fall si. Seneca Falls, N.Y. You've heard the stories: One big corporation forbids you to wearanything butwhite shirts. Another says itvvants you to be crea- tive -and gives you a 4-pound rule book telling you exactly how to do it. Yet another doesn't want you to buy a more expensive car than your boss because it vvouldn't look right . ls this really happening in American business? I-lavecompanies becomeso rigid and fossilized that they're scared ot people who don'ttitthe norm ? Not this company. Weare nothungupontrivialikethat. The advances General Telephone 8t Electronics has made didn't come from people hiding behind organization charts and smilingatthe righttime. They came from people who used theirbrains: People who revolutionized picture- taking with the Sylvania tlashcube, GENERAL TELEPHONE 84 ELECTRONICS who developed the high-energy liquid laser, who came up with the sharpest color TV picture in the world, who pio- neered instant electronic stock market quotations, and so on.
