Bnowu, Suwznvlsmc PRINCIPAL WATERLOO, NEW YORK Dear Members of the Class of 1944: The Class of 1944 has chosen a splendid symbol as the theme of this issue of the Skol- Yase. My wish to each member of the Senior Class is, that as the future unfolds, you will have navigated through dark and turbulent waters to happiness and success. Ocean liners set their course, and through the co-operation of the ship itself and the crew, cuts its way to port, overcom- ing every obstacle the sea can throw in its path. Safe anchor- age is achieved because the captain and crew knew where and how to reach the destination. Seniors, set yourself a glorious goal, let no obstacle, no matter how great, deter you. Train your mind, so that, as the captain directs his ship, it may direct your life to your goal. Guard the health of your body so that you will have physical strength to respond to the challenges your captain will demand in reaching the port of happiness and success. Sincerely, .VT Albert S. Mr. Benz l :R ' x ll , X at 'X 'Prospects for a successful 1943 football season appeared dim when only inexperienced and light candidates, led by veterans Sacco, Brown, and Kreutter, reported to Coach Duke Benz in the fall. Highlighting the season were the games with lllebster and Newark. The opener with W'ebster ended in a scoreless tic: but the Indians played an excellent game. displaying spirit and determination. Against Newark the eleven showed signs ol' becoming a good football team: for the linemen and backs worked well together. coming through with a 6-0 win. Although the season record of I'our defeats, one tie and one victory doesn't appear impressive, the win over Newark, the tie with XVebster and the line battle given the traditional rival, Mynderse Academy, was much more than was expected of a light and inexperienced squad. Nolv: Ralph King. Donald Seeley. and Nlerwin Brown were absent when the football picture was taken. 36 KL Zf,-4'5 fl T 4 jl,4 -44,4-1 -xv -,ufffs J f 'l .
