WA - T0 - HI - SE STAFF The staff of the Wa-To-Hi-Se is, left to right, front row: Jean Allen--Art Editor, Martha Reaves--Third Page Editor, Beverly Coopes--Second Page Editor, Betty Fowler-- Editor-in-chief, Robert Webb--Sports Editor, Peggy Keasey--First Page Editor, Thelma Lewis--Girls' Sports, Floyd Beauchamp. Second row: Ardythe Sutton, Bonnie Graves, Beverly Bugg--Exchange Editor, Norma Geror, Mary Lou Falkner, Barbara Lesar, Charlotte Johnson, Dorothy Mackinder, Miss Day, Jack White--Associate Editor, Kenneth Leslie, Betty Hagerman--Copy Reader, Joan Slygh, Barbara Zoch, Normagean Terry, Ronald Grover--Business Manager. Evelyn Teasley, Lois Ealy, Janelle Anderson, and Marvin Olvin were camera shy. Struggling to meet a deadline, the twenty-five members of the Wa-To-Hi-Se staff managed to issue eighteen editions of the school paper, as well as to study the fundamentals and history of journalism. The paper registered in a big way with the students at W.T.H.S., mainly because of the new method by which it was printed. This method, offset printing, in contrast to last year's mimeographed Wa-To-Hi-Se, was provided by the General Printing and Office Supply Company in Pontiac. In the line of book-work, the class undertook the history of journalism from Caesar's News-Letters to the modern Daily Blast, and also a study of the principles of modern newspaper writing including features, news articles, and editorials. Several outside activities occupied the journalists time, among these being a trip to General Printing, a visit to the University of Michigan on May 13 to attend the Michigan Interscholastic Press Association Conference, and the amiual Journalism Banquet to honor the departing members of the staff. Special features which added to the quality of the paper include the clever art work of lean Allen, 'News in Brief, short items of interest, Stuff and Nonsense, a humorous group of newsy articles, and 'Bobby B1uengold, a column written by Bob Webb.

NEPTUNE'S FESTIVAL Climaxing an eventful year, the senior class presented their annual carnival, 'King Neptune's Festival' on March 5, at W.T.H.S. The chain of events during the evening led to the coronation of the king and queen. For a week preceding the carnival, jars were placed in the corridor, encouraging students to vote for their favorite. The larger net returns from the carnival showed the king and queen contest as high. The total receipts amounted to 3185. The victors in this popularity race were Ioan Kray of the junior class, and Burt Fangel of the senior class. Presenting the I awards in the above picture is Sally Eaton, secretary of the class of '49, and Bob Webb, prexy of the senior class. Some of the reasons for the cash gain of S400 are these: the ship's store, the fish pond, Sambo game, dart and balloon game, bean guessing contest, and the cakewalk. Others were: Fortune telling, fudge sale, galley, house of mystery, and pitching pennies. For the second consecutive year Waterford's residents have turned out to make the annual senior affair a huge success.

YEARBUUK STAFF T --4-:XS fic 1' -re-Q Z You might call this annual staff very liberal. The first day a yearbook was mentioned we decided not to have the customary style carried by most annuals. So, striving for orig- inality, we came up with this casual method of presenting the memorable school days and activities of the past year. This style presents a tabloid review of Waterford's happenings in a novel way. It is the hope of the staff that you enjoy the pictures of school life, personalities, classes, and organizations, along with the presentation of sports, faculty and class pictures. We hope you enjoy the annual as much as we enjoyed getting it ready for you. So from the staff and adviser we would like to say, Thanks for the cooperation and here's hoping you like the fruit of our laborl' Associate Editor Girls' Sports 10th Grade Editor Copyreader Copyreader 11th Grade Editor Make-up Editor Editor lack White Ronald Grover Barbara Zoch Beverly Bugg Ioan Slygh Ardythe Sutton Bonnie Graves Dorothy Mackinder Business Manager 12th Grade Editor Boys' Sports Feature Editor Photo Editor Art Editor 9th Grade Editor Adviser Miss Florence Day Floyd Beauchamp Martha Reaves Robert Webb Peggy Keasey Thelma Lewis jean Allen Mary Lou Falkner
