Linda Hosler and Becky Espinoza work hard play- ing their bass clarinets. The 1974-75 school year kicked off a campaign for new band uni- forms. The Band Parents and students decided that the old uniforms may not make it another thirteen years. A committee of parents and students formed to design a new uniform that could be used for marching and con- certs. The necessary 51526, O00 was raised by sponsoring many projects. This was accomplished in one year. The School Board donated 510, OOO towards the uniforms. Some of the money raising projects included a Dinner-Dance at Springfield Oaks, a rock-a-thon, Tag Day Sales and many personal donations from members of the community. The band also held an exchange concert with Belleville. An addition was made to the ln- strumental Music Department when Miss judy Peters joined the faculty. Miss Peters' experience includes a year studying in France at a saxo- phone conservatory. The band also had an executive board comprised of students elected by fellow members of the band. Duties of the executive board were to resolve any problems that occurred during the year. Randy Thompson displays the new band uniforms at a Board of Education meeting. Physical education is an important part of school. This class in- cludes the study of foot- ball, basketball, volley- ball, wrestling, tumbling, gymnastics and weight lifting. Occasionally the boys' gym class and the girls' gym class join to- gether for co-ed days. On these days students are allowed to participate in any gym activity of their choice, Gym classes also dis- cuss first aid techniques and movies on smoking and venereal disease. The teachers are Mr. Bob Sippell, Mr. Tom Bryce, Mr. Melvin Pat- terson, Miss Marty Sikora and Mrs. Carol Skillman. Mrs. Skillman joined the Kettering staff this year,

Music fills the air Harmony and happiness fill the air when stu- dents of Kettering's Vocal Music Department start to sing. Vocal Music Director, Mrs. janet Hunt Works with the Various Vocal groups Within the department. Vocal music students make up the Mixed Chorus, A Cappella Choir, Gleemen, Senior Girls Ensemble, Madrigal and junior Girls. The Vocal Music Department presented sev- eral concerts throughout the year. They also performed at the Pontiac State Bank and during the Christmas Assembly. ln the Spring, the Vocal Music Department joined with the Drama Department to present the musical Sound of Music.
