That's how The American College Dictionary defines Thespian, however, inform- ed students here at W-K know that a Thespian does more than just act. To become a member of Thespian Troupe 32244, requires not just acting ability, but also the willingness to Vol- unteer to spend free time for the group. In fact, acting is not even required for member- ship, it is just another facet of this group which forms the steady, firm, guiding, core for the Dramatics Club. Membership is based on a point score, totaled throughout the year, figured on work done at Volunteer projects. Howard Andress, Marie Whisbon, Larry Andress and Rich Welsh are amazed in By the Skin of Our Teeth.

4 This year the Dramatics Club opened four productions to the public. These shows were Barefoot in the Park, The Sound of Music, The Playroom and three one act plays. All of these productions were well done and the audi- ences always left the auditorium with a good feeling. The object of theater is to allow people to en- joy themselves, to let them forget time for a while. The method of theater is a willing sus- pension of disbelief. ln both of these categories, Mike Vanderl-Ioek, Larry Anclress and Lori Thompson discuss set construction. this year's group was outstanding. The acting was especially exemplary of what should be seen on stage. Most people don't understand the work put in- to a play. What really happens is six to eight weeks of two hour rehearsals four nights a week. What we see is a finished product that lasts may- be two hours. What really happens is backbreak- ing work on a set. What we see is a stage that looks nice enough to live in. What really happens is a face sweating from caked on make -up.
