Completing this yearbook was a difficult task, but looking back it was well worth the time and effort. We truly hope it will serve to bring back fond memories of days gone by. Sincerely, I N MR. ALFRED CALABRESE Now, at the close of our high school years, we wish to express our gratitude to you for giving us the under- standing and guidance we so often needed. Because of MR. EDWARD COLUNS your unselfish and untiring efforts on our behalf, we dedicate the 1965 Fordian to you Mr. Alfred Calabrese and Mr. Edward Collins. CHARLES FITZPATRICK Leadership and cooperation are qualities required of any organization. Y our class has demonstrated these qualities in the production of The Fordian. Congratulations on your accomplishment. The issuance of this annual marks the culmination of much hard work. It is difficult to measure the patience, the frustrations and the many hours that go into such a production. Those of you who toiled diligently toward the successful com- pletion of your yearbook have been rewarded by the result before you. It will serve as a constant reminder throughout your lives of your devotion to your task and of the days that will take on ever greater meaning as you move through life. Con- gratulations on your accomplishment and may the lives of all the members of your class be blessed with similar successes. WILLIAM WATERHOUSE MARIAN RANNEY Graduates, my congratulations to you on this occasion of success and happiness! CLASS WILL AND TESTAMENT We, the Class of 1965, being of sound mind and body do hereby declare this to be our last will and testament. To the Class of 1969, we leave our class colors of green and white. We hope they signify as much pride and happiness for you as they have for us. To the Class of 1967, we offer this advice: a little money can go a long way. To the Class of 1966: Rots of Ruck, the worst is yet to come. To the faculty, we leave our deepest appreciation for all your efforts in making us better individuals. To Mr. Alfred Calabrese and Mr. Edward Collins, our advisors, we leave our most sincere gratitude and thanks for making our high school years as en- joyable as they have been. Without your efforts, this would hardly have been possible. CLASS FRESHMAN YEAR September 13, 1961 - a date which will long be remembered at Waterford-Half- moon High School. On this date, the Class of '65, anxious to begin the long road to success, held its first organized meeting in Waterford's fortress of education in room 203. This is a testament to our success. Before we began our journey to fame, fortune, and glory, a world crisis snatched one of our gifted leaders from our midst. But confidently Mr. Calabrese declared, I shall return! - and he was true to his word. But our confidence was not shaken. Under the guidance of our other advisor, Mr. Collins, we successfully held our first dance, Snowflake Serenade . Our well-dire ed ambition and youthful eagerness resulted in an overwhelming success. As the Fordians came out of the depressed state of a long winter, they were cheer- fully met by the Class of 1965 selling Mason's Candy. We ended the year filthy rich! Our first Moving-Up Day was the last the old school was ever to witness. We fondly recall how on that memorable day the sun smiled upon our stuffed animals, lollipops, and our class colors of green and white. Thus, we ended our Freshman Year - our shyness diminished, our confidence increased. SOPHOMORE YEAR September '62 saw the school doors open after a ten weeks period of inactivity. Eagerly we filed into our homerooms, 301 and 203. But the good times we realized there were to come to an end. During Christmas vacation we co-operated with school officials to insure a successful re-location of our educational facilities. Yet even the glitter of a new school couldn’t dull our ambition. Once again the public was greeted by the Class of '65 selling Mason's Candy. And we're sure everyone remembers the night of April 19 when we held that never to be forgotten dance, A Night to Remember . As school closed for summer recess the Class of '65 looked forward to September and new heights to conquer. HISTORY JUNIOR YEAR With two of our high school years already behind us, one would think our drive and ambition would be dimmed. Yet it was stronger than ever! Not content with a mere $1, 098.01 in our treasury, we held another candy sale, as well as a car wash, food sale, and two dances. On February 15, the Class of '65 held its first banquet. The occasion — receiving our school rings. Then in April the theatrical world was shaken! The critics raved: the audiences cried Encore. The whole world applauded our production of House for Sale . . . Haunted under the skillful direction of Mr. Lawrence Cerri. Luckily, we made a profit. This helped finance another banquet at the Sunset - - the Junior - Senior Banquet. Not only did we have to pay for our own meals, but for theirs too! In May, we decided to get a head-start on our yearbook by electing our co-editors. Sandy Lawrence and Pam Benoit were chosen because of their proven reliability and competence. Now, a year later, with the completion of this yearbook, we realize we made a wise decision. Moving-Up Day marked the end of a profitable and eventful year. Sitting in the audience, with our wands in our hands, the class of '65 realized that next year we would be on the stage. SENIOR YEAR At last, we're Seniors! Although there were times when we were discouraged and depressed, we always put our feelings aside, and struggled onward. Now we could capitalize on our previous three years’ work. Our World’s Fair Trip will never be forgotten by the members of the class of '65. The highlight of our Easter vacation was our three days in the big city. The Class of '65 got its just rewards when we were honored at a banquet given by the Junior Class. Two weeks later, we viewed the result of our months' efforts. At the Yearbook Banquet, the Senior Class distributed the first glittering issues of the '65 Fordian. Moving-Up Day 1965. Finally, it was our turn to be honored. After a morning of stiff competition, we settled back to enjoy the respect and admiration we deserved. Proudly, but reluctantly, we marched off the stage as the graduating class. June 4 marked the culmination of the social events of W. H. H.S. Our Senior Prom will always be remembered as a night of elegance, as well as ecstasy. Tension mounted as graduation day drew near. Finally the long-awaited day was upon us! June 28 brought a close to our high school days and marked the beginning of our acceptance of a greater responsibility. Yet, as we look back we can not help feeling remorseful at leaving our cherished high school days forever. MOVING-UP DAY SONG Oh, Seniors kind and debonair. Where do you go today? We'll miss your joyous chatter When you are far away. Beginning life's brave battle. Your banners bright unfurled, Move up! Move up! where e'er you go, Out in the wide, wide world. Oh, Juniors gay and carefree. Where do yo.u go today? Life's merry whirl is calling you, But you won't go astray, Mr. Fitz is watching over you, Fine fledglings to behold. Move up! Move up! We welcome you Into the Senior fold. Oh, Sophomores bold and daring. Where do you go today? With math and French and Latin, With English you must stay. Your wise but youthful bearing So pleasant to behold. Move up! Move up! We welcome you Into the Junior fold. Oh, Freshman green and budding, Where do you go today? Your science 9 is in the bag, Your shyness tucked away. Your clear and shining faces Are pleasant to behold. Move up! Move up! We welcome you Into the Sophomore fold. HAIL CLASSES Hail, all hail, to the graduates. Hail to the graduates today! Hail, all hail, to the graduates. May fortune e’er strew their way Let's give three cheers And one cheer more For '65 today. Hail, all hail, to the graduates. Hail to the graduates today.
