In this yearbook we tjfpe to re- lat t vou the event _that_ have_ leasant to DEDICATION December, 1962, and June, 1964, are both dates that will live in the memory of this senior class. The first marked the opening of the doors of our new school; the second will mark the opening of the doors of our future. Waterford-Halfmoon High School and its teachers, dedicated to broadening our realm of knowledge, have provided us with the foundation upon which we shall build our future. Our community has made possible for us all the opportunity and advantages of a sound education. During these busy days before graduation, the Class of 1964 takes this opportunity to thank the communities of Waterford and Half- moon for their unselfish contributions in the education of tomorrow's citizens. We sin- cerely dedicate the 1964 FORDIAN to you. IN MEMORY MISS HELEN GAINOR Above and Beyond the Call of Duty” We Seniors, as young people everywhere, seldom appreciate efforts being made in our behalf, especially if these efforts require work from us. With Miss Gainor, we worked harder and with more intensity of purpose than we believed possible of our- selves. Her ability to give of her knowledge to all of us will always be respected. We hope that whatever our achievements will be and whatever the achievements of all her students shall prove a living tribute to her. CHARLES FITZPATRICK Appreciation can be expressed in many ways, but thank you seems the most sincere. Mr. Fitzpatrick, thank you for all you have done for us. WILLIAM WATERHOUSE Now, on the threshold of the future, we pause to thank you for the guidance that brought us to this point in life. We shall continue along its trail alone, but we will never forget your assistance. M. MARIAN RANNEY What is the ultimate goal of a guidance counselor? To see her graduates firmly established in professions which suit not only their capabilities but their personalities. Spending her time and energy, Miss Ranney patiently answered our many ques- tions and helped us to solve our numerous problems. We shall constantly remember her for her assistance and guidance. All preliminary tests were passed. The records of the card sale and our dance, aptly named Stairway to the Stars, provided the launch- ing pad for our missile. Our efforts on this testing ground proved beyond a doubt that PROJECT 64 was destined to succeed. Although many further prep- arations remained, the future was bright. 1961- 62 In the fall of 1961 technicians returned to their posts and began perfecting PROJECT 64. In order to measure the cooperation of these technicians, a candy sale was organized. To test the ingenuity of the crew, two dances. An Evening at the Peppermint Lounge and Memories, were planned and ex- ecuted. Participation in the inter-class games and Moving-Up Day exercises proved again that PROJECT 64 had the potential to carry out its mission suc- cessfully. All parts, at this point, had checked out A. O.K., and prospects for the future looked good. Yes. the years 1961-62 saw PROJECT 64 taking definite shape. Completion of this project was an event of the near future. 1962- 63 With construction well under way. PROJECT 64 was transferred to a maxi- mum security site, and a second consultant, Miss Elizabeth Ensign, was added to the team. Modern equipment and a new building improved our working conditions and heightened our spirits. Each crew member of THE CLASS OF 1964 received his identification piece, a ring bearing illustrations of the old and new missile sites. Later, the crew of PROJECT 63 were our guests at one of the local hangars, the Carriage House, but no secrets of either mission were revealed. No one could guess how close to completion PROJECT 64 was. 1963- 64 The time had run out. THE CLASS OF 1964 was now in the final observa- tion period. Mr. Ronald Gillespie and Mr. Kevin Anderson were called in to help with last minute preparations before launching. Minor details were com- pleted and the logbook was brought up-to-date. The Senior Prom, the final social event for the crew of PROJECT 64, was held. Only the countdown re- mained. Ten, nine, eight, seven, six, five, four, three, two, one—BLAST OFF! A spectacular launch! All crew members have begun the journey to the future. The official files of Waterford-Halfmoon High School will treas- ure the records of this exhibition for years.
