LONGHORN RCIDIHISCCHCCS of the Past Wlth a 1ub1lanta1r and glowlng cheeks we xentuled lnto 1un1o1 hlgh Thele we met MISS Robertson 1oyously awa1t1ng us at the dool of our sex enth grade homeroom She gave us the scoop on the behaylor whlch was expected of us for the next sm yea1s Many excltlng pastlmes yarled our routlne Boy was It a great thrlll to be able to r1ng the bell that sent evervone scrambhng' Also what a puulege lt was when we th st marched 1nto study hall At the beglnmng of the e1ghth grade We stor med 1n on Mrs Gage w ho put up w1th us for a few months Then Mlss Royel had the burden of seelng us through the rest of the yeal Flnally we were freshmen That long awalted year had alrlx ed and we w ere ln hlgh school All of us felt hke b1g deals Howevel we got knocked down a peg or two at Freshman Receptlon when We had to do such thlngs as roll a potato the length of the gym floor usmg only the nose Can you lmaglne who ou1 class 0fTlC61S were None other than M1 Pres1dent Bllly Russell Drenna Longe XICG presldent Joseph Lumbra treasurer and Audry Belanger secretary Mr Doran had the honor of belng our class 3dX1S6l If we dldn t learn another thlng this year we at least learned to fold the flag Freshmen are always asslgned thxs lmportant 1ob Representlng us on the basketball squad th1s year was the wonder boy Eddle Steele Dashmg about town 1n all klnds of weather and clad qulte scantlly were Bernard Sw eetser and Jlm Sayah as they tramed fol track w1se fools Comedlan Harold Grout was elected D1 esldent and were class meetmgs a r1ot' Also ofhclatlng were Bllly Russell uce presldent Joseph Lumbra treasurel and Audry Belanger secretary Our advlser was MISS Melvllle On the stage actlng talents we1e shown by Stexe Cooley Harold Glout Conme St Onge Joan Lewls Rosemary Jones and Janlce Lowe who presented our first one act play Llttle Darhng Rosemary Jones also poltrayed an Egyptlan temptless 1n The Makel of I aws w hlch entel ed the State Contest The w arblel w ho attended All State flom ou1 Class ot 55 w as Theda Bal nes Our wonder boy Eddle Steele was agaln representmg us on xarslty basketball bu1ld1ng a fine reputatlon for hlmself Ronnle Pa1ge a mem ber of our class gaxe able suppolt to vars1ty basketball duung h1s one year here Carol Bordeaux showed a great deal of ab1l1ty at cheerleadlng and cheered on xarslty Nancy Woodward and Lee Wllde w e1e very able sub stltutes At the Della Swasex Prlze Speakmg Contest the Class of 55 took both of the Hrst prlzes The talented two wele Joan Lew IS and Harold Grout Two of our bovs Bernard Sweetsel and J1m Sayah proxed capable runners 1n track and won thelr letters At the State Meet and agaln at Rhode Island these bovs kept Waterbury 1n thlrd pos1t1on Durlng the 1un1or year ou1 melodlous XOICQS w e1e the cause of many rfr.
