7fze faagfrolm Gabriel blows his horn, or you'll be caught in that mean old world and have to live there, and probably you'll have to haunt a house, that is, if you can find one that is unoccupied. With that, George disappeared again. I scarcely noticed it this time, as I was getting quite used to it, and besides, I was becoming a little faded looking myself. Floating down to earth, I noticed that Stanley and Orvie were stranded on Mars. Oh, well, thought I, they'll be in tomorrow. I landed on the roof of a rather queer looking building in New York. It had a blue roof pink walls and golden plastic elevators I rode up and down on the ioof of the elevator a few times until I heard the operator say Billie Bigelow s Die s Shoppe Iunterlng Miss Bigelow s establish ment through the wall of course I found myself in the reception room There behind a glass desk was Mae Davis chewing gum and leading True Confessions In back of her was a sign that said Mlss Bigelow s Oflice Very Pilv ate I drifted through the closed door and honestly if I hadn t been a ghost my color would have lighted up the room Evi dently Miss Bigelow w as holding a buslne s conference with her manager Robeit Harvey Before I could drag my eyes away whom should I see under the desk busily taking notes on the proceedings but Paul DeCelle He wo1e a big badge labeled Secret Snooper Paul always w as good at prving into things I went back to 11d1ng up and down on the elevator Suddenly I heard a rather sharp voice below me saying But I don t need a hostess gown I need a host of gow ns' It w as Marion Bragdon buying a new ward robe to catch hei tenth husband I got off at the Costume Salon sixth floor and guess who was model ing clothes Margv Towne and Waneta Woodard At the present time Margy had on a lovely ev ening dress and Waneta looked perfectly at home in a silk lined pau of woolen dungarees and shirt of course As I left the building after one last llde down the elevator shaft I iealized how lucky it w as that I was a ghost Raphael Lowe driving a long orchid and mustard yellow convertible coupe came tearing down the avenue which I was leisurely floating across When he tore through me I had all I could do to keep my ectoplasm all togethei and it would have been iather embarrassing losing some of it Scarcely had I recovered from that episode when Richard Izor driving his new Atomic Ice Truck came speedlng down the sti eet I felt rather mischievous so I floated into the cab and pushed the release button thus scattering ice from 16th Avenue North to 32nd Park Row I decided that this evening I would visit th ew Take All Ya Got Club that had iust opened down the street It wa esigned by Freeman Sweetsei and Jean Guptill and patterned after The Lost Weekend Theie w eie pink elephants on the ceilings blue giraffes on the walls and faccs on the floor 9SD6LldllX about two o clock in the morning The night club was owned bv Gailand Fletchei the chorus line was inspected by How aid Nayloi and the work w as done by lNo1man Nelson Right up fiont ncxt to the floor show it one of the best tables w ele Donald Pieble and Duane Athei Lpon noticing them I floated ov ei and it on thc light bulb Thcv seemed to be veiv engiossed in the flool show s0 much so that I tuined ibout and no w ondei theie w ere Baibaia Shei m in and Bevel lv Ha kin the two highest k1Ck6lS in the choius line and it then igc too' Listening, in on Donald s and Duanes conveisatlon I di covcicd th it bv sevei nl shicwd political moves Donald was now ch ugc of thc Duxbuiv politics ind that Duane of couise was DIQDAIIIIL, him foi biggci hclcls bv tcaching him Fiench If the old saying Big oaks 9 s - V . .
