gwu muwotm SENIDRS OF NINE Spotlight Earned Here we stand with eyes aglow, Having learned things we didn't know. Our hearts are pounding and throats are dry- We've had our times to laugh and times to cry. Here we stand in the spotlight, Coming thru this stage of life. The years we've spent to earn this light Have come thru trials of day and night. We've acted out our roles and parts And have even won a few hearts. Our work was hard and long. We finally learned, where we belong. Trish Turner April 4, 1985 :MW S-' ig? VOLLEYBALL The 1984 volleyball team had a real good season finishing with a 8 win and 12 loss record, however, several of the losses were to higher classification competition. They were 3 and 3 in District, finishing in second place, earning the right to advance to post- season competition. They then won their bi-district game, but lost in area. 53 H m N 1? 5 is , X I ik My ,M- Junior Varsitq J L to R: Janene Schwartz, Mgr. BASKETBALL 1984-85 The 1984-X85 Lady Wildcats basketball team had a highly successful season, finishing with a 18 win - 8 loss record. They won 1st place in the Irion Co. tournament, 3rd place in the Robert Lee tour- nament, and won the Consolation bracket in the Sterling City tournament. They finished in 2nd place in district with a 8-win, 2-loss record, earn- ing the right to participate in a post-season playoff game, losing to a very fine Coldthwaite team. Vasquez, Andrea Lem- mons Cathy Scott Tonya Franke Angie Lemmons, Coach Bobby Loy. As I look upon the 1984-85 Junior Varsity Basketball team, this was a team that was totally and unselfishly dedicated to the Varsity program. It was a team that showed much improvement from the outset of the year. This team, at all times, gave 10076, even though we were thin in the ranks after we moved some Junior Varsity players to the Varsity as replacements. I will always remember this team as I continue my endeavor as a coach and hope that this in- spiration and dedication can and will con- tinue to be an asset to the Water Valley High School athletic program. -Coach Loy HIGH SCHOOL BOYS BASKETBALL VARSIT Y TEAM: L to R: Craig Chambers, Kyle Bailey, Daniel Fontenot Jody jackson, Todd Miller, Derek Doss, Chuck Ewing, Zeke Bailey, W.G Culpepper fcoachj, Tim Layman Qassistant coachj.
