NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY Eligibility for membership in the National Honor Society is open to students in the tenth, eleventh, or twelfth grade. Students may not apply for membership, they are selected by a faculty council. Selection of students for membership is based upon their scholarship, service, character, and leadership at Water Valley High School. An induction ceremony is held each spring to recognize the members. SOCIETY OF DISTINGUISHED AMERICAN STUDENTS Students chosen for the Society ot Distinguished Students are done so by a faculty committee using the following guidelines: academic excellence and leadership in extracurricular activities. Only a certain percentage of each high school class is chosen, so it is an honor when a student becomes a member. 91

Providing Leadership The role ofthe Student Council at Water Valley is to provide leadership for the student body. The student council may act as a go-between of the administration and student body. The main concern of the student council is the welfare of the students it represents. The student council is also responsible for the morning devotional and prayer.
