ONE-ACT PLAY CHARACTERS - The Scarecrow - Ted Bagwell, The Fairy - Pam Williford, The Witch - Diann Farris, The Girl in the Audience - Gwen Upchurch, The Little Girl - Penny Gaebes, The Old Man - Tom Ellzey, The Skunk - Daniel Fontenot, The Jester - Charlie Rivers, The Scarehuman - Cris Hoester, The King - Will Charlesworth, The Princess - Dena Gibson. UNDERSTUDIES - Cindy Turner, Bubba Grimes, David Skains, Sandra Cervatez. I The Happy Scarecrow is a fantasy. It is about a fairy, a witch, and a scarecrow and their search for happiness. What is happiness? Philosophers have struggled with this question for centuries. But sometimes answers are found by simple people with humble aims. Teased by a witch to prove that there is happiness in the world, a little Fairy awakes a Scarecrow and promises to make him a real man if he can find happiness. The Scarecrow's search evokes a little smile, a little fright, and perhaps a little tear. By Ms. King 101
