-. W- -.-. vw - -. . . ---..-....wfY,-i..,. ,,, PROPHECY Having been born the seventh daughter of the seventh daugh- ter, it is given to me the power to foretell all things yet to be. Thus, in looking into the future of the Senior Class of '48- l+9 I see the following things as they will be in 1959. I am at an exclusive Country Glub in New Orleans. It is al- most time for the very popular Radio Show, Lunch in New Orleans, to begin. The microphone is being set up by a female radio tech- nician who proves to be, upon examination, Maxine Abbott who has made an unusual success in that field. The M. C. is rushing in, and, as you have guessed, it proves to be Len Ainsworth, who took up that line of work when jilted by the Freshman girl in 1949. Several distinguised guests are assembled here today and among them I notice several members of the class of '48-'49, who seem to be having a second senior trip, so to speak. The distinguish- ed looking matron, dressed in mourning, leading her twin sons I recognize to be .Tune Brown whose husband, a freshman during her senior year at WVHS has just been shot for smuggling. The mike is now hooked up and we are on the air. The female vocal trio so famed for its glamorous members proves to be Georgia Faye Smith, Wanda Treadaway, and Dorothy Earnest. Dorothy is also a tap-dancer at a near-by night spot, earning extra money to send her husband through high school. Two distinguished ranch couples, composed of two seniors who married Juniors the year after graduation prove to be Mr. and Mrs. Percy Turner and Mr. and Mrs. Jay Spears. Jay is Percy' s foreman and Betty is Pat' s housekeeper. It is rumored that Percy is almost broke, due to reckless spending and some say he is to be convicted for misappropriations of senior funds back in 'l.9. Someone has fainted and the call Is there a doctor in the house? arises and the distinguished gentleman with his pill bag coming through the audience proves to be S. L. Tate, Jr. He breaks a bottle and when the janitor comes in to clean the debris we recognize Gene Bannister. Thinking that, with one exception, the class reunion would be complete, I hear the tinkling of Salvation Army Bells and recognize Eunice Holsenbeck as the laughing lassie. Thus ends Lunch in New Orleans.
