J VC-33 Left to Right: LTJG G. L. HOPPE, LTJG J.A. PAPADAKIS, LTJG J. P. OBELHOLTZER, LCDR R. PETERS, LTJG M.K. ROBINSON, LTJG R. ZUKIN. A A When they adopted this little delinquint, neither Momma nor Poppa realized what V a fly-by-night orphan they were getting. As he had been used to roaming the Board- walk in Atlantic City. the Delinquint quickly felt the effect of having new parents to discipline him. The VC-33 detachment was startled to find itself flying twentyfour hours a day in Mariner , searching for bombers, subs, surface raiders, and we took the load off the Bennington . ln the lndian Ocean, Momma whipped him twice with her barrier cables and Poppa took away half of his favorite toys- two of his best AD-4N's-to be replaced by old, rebuilt ones. Although the two planes required a lot of maintenance at first, the Delinquint soon was able to launch them for many of his night heckler hops over Korea and the Sea of Japan. The heckler's mission was to try to keep the simulflled enemy from sleeping, moving troops or muntions, and to generally lower his morale at night. Our APS-3l radar was perfect for leading us to and from the area, Gnd our searchlights and flares were adequate to illuminate the target for low level rUnS- Although we enioyed all our day hops, we had the most fun at night lboth at seq and ashorel. rsfl S, A, L. .gr 29 Left to Right: Front Row: Middle Row: Last Row: MISSING: BELL' J' P' AT3f BUNNELL W- P- MAN.
