Led by LCDR WALLY STORM they flew their F2l-l-3 Banshees on Combat Air patrols, close air support strikes, photo escort missions and special weapons sorties. There were endless condition four and condition one standbys with the planes spotted on the catapults ready to go at a moments notice. l.T GEORGE WEBSTER was in charge of aircraft maintenance, a iob he passed on to LTJG BOB FOLEY when he had to return temporarily to the states shortly before Christmas. The job of maintenance was a tough one, but with a topnotch crew of men like AMI PATTERSON, AOl HUTCHINSON, ADl BAKER and ADl KARHAM working day and night when necessary, lOO per cent avail- ability was the rule rather than the exception. After letting down through an overcast into the pitch dark beneath, no sight was more welcome than Momma's shapely figure outlined in red deck-edge lights and dustpans, with her LSO lit up like a Christmas tree waiting on the fantail with open arms. Sometimes, out of capriciousness, she would turn out all of her lights and play hide and seek with the Night Prowler or make thirty degree turns as he came up the groove. Personnel and administration were ably handled by LTJG CHUCK COULTER assisted by YN2 WALLY STOKES while LTJG TED DUNHAM with the help of AKI GEORGE STENSON took care of Material and Communications. Ordnance and Special Weapons formerly BOB FOl.EY's job was taken over by LTJG TED SARRAN along with his other duties as Survival and Safety Officer shortly after Christmas. When CHIEF RICHERQ after making the trip around the world to lapan with the team, was forced to return home due to an illness in his family he passed his iob as leading chief on to CHIEF SADOWSKI. A constant nuisance to Momma, the Night Prowler was forever keeping her up until all hours of the night. Q'
